Lainey Wilson is heading to the big screen. The Grand Ole Opry member will star in a new movie, Reminders of Him, an adaptation of the 2022 book of the same name, by best-selling author, Colleen Hoover. The film also stars Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford and Nicholas Duvernay.
Per Variety, Reminders of Him is described as a “transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.”
Wilson has yet to publicly comment on the film. Although this will be her first role in a movie, she is no stranger to acting. Wilson also had a recurring role in the hit TV show, Yellowstone, one that the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, carved out just for her.
“He said, ‘I want to create a character specifically for you,'” Wilson recalls to People, after he also used some of her music in Yellowstone. “He said, ‘I want you to wear what you wear, sing what you’re singing and pretty much just be yourself. You’re gonna go by Abby. She’s a musician.’ And without even thinking, I just said, ‘Yes, count me in. Let’s do it.'”
Although Wilson’s career keeps her busy, has said she is interested in more acting opportunities.
“I love creating things,” she explains. “And I feel like that’s what acting is. It’s just being creative.”

Wilson is likely juggling filming with wedding planning. The “Bell Bottoms Up” singer is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
“I think it’s going to be small,” Wilson reveals to Audacy. “We haven’t talked about this much. This is as much planning as we have done. We have said everything else is a big old to-do. We just want this to be about what it’s supposed to be about, and have our friends and family there and just really enjoy that moment.”
“I definitely, probably will have like a jazz band from New Orleans, something like that,” she adds. “We’ll definitely, probably ride off on horses, or ride in on a horse, maybe in on a carriage, off on a horse.”
Perhaps surprisingly, the 32-year-old says she will wear a dress, instead of her signature bell bottoms, for the big day.
“I’m going to wear a dress,” Wilson says on The Kelleigh Bannen Show.. “I hadn’t done the whole dress shopping. We haven’t even picked a date or anything like that. We got some time, but I figured, you know what? I hadn’t worn a dress for him yet, and I guess that would be the day to do it.”
Wilson will likely don her signature bell bottoms for the upcoming ACM Awards, where she is nominated for seven trophies, including the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year. For all of her nominations, Wilson still isn’t the most nominated, with that honor going to Ella Langley instead.
“I could not be more thrilled,” Wilson says, speaking of Langley’s nominations. “I could not be more excited to see it happening to a girl that just knows who she is. She shows up, and she rolls her sleeves up, and she is ready to kick down barn doors. You gotta have that spirit in this business. If you don’t have that spirit, there’s somebody behind you that’s going to have that spirt, and they’re going to knock down that barn door for you. So, she’s one of those.
“I would not be surprised if she comes in there with her broom and starts sweeping it up,” she adds. “And I’d be behind her with a dustpan … I was like, ‘Let’s go.’ I’m glad to see the community really taking notice in somebody who’s just got it. That’s a good feeling, especially as a female in the business. It’s good to see.”
