Lauren Alaina Announces Personal New Album, 'Stages'

A new album is coming from Lauren Alaina! The American Idol alum announces the release of Stages, out on August 28. The record includes her current hit single, “All My Exes” with Chase Matthew, plus her new track, “Raining Whiskey,” and more.

“I’m fifteen years into a ten-year town and 31 years into a lifelong dream,” Alaina says. “Stages represents every version of me along the way: the dreaming, the breaking, and, ultimately, the becoming. There’s something on this album for everyone, no matter what stage of life they’re in. Stages is letting everyone see behind the curtain of the girl in the spotlight. It’s a reflection of the moments that shaped me and the dream that carried me through. It’s always been the same dream, different stages.”

The Story Behind “All My Exes” by Lauren Alaina and Chase Matthew

“All My Exes” is written by Alaina, along with Ben Johnson, Jimmie Gutch, and Whitney Phillips. Although now happily married to Cam Arnold, whom she wed in 2024, Alaina reveals “All My Exes” is at least partly based on her romantic past.

“I wrote ‘All My Exes’ about a relationship I had that was, let’s just say not my best relationship,” Alaina tells Yahoo! Entertainment. “And we were fighting down on Broadway, actually. Everybody’s had a fight down on Broadway, right? If you’ve been to Nashville, you have.”

“I basically wrote this song about things that he was yelling at me and saying about me,” she continues. “And I was like, ‘Well, you know, I’ve heard this before. I’m not saying you’re right, but you are not the first to say this to me.’ It’s the classic, ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ song.”

Lauren Alaina Celebrates Being a Mother

Alaina is a talented singer, songwriter, and performer. But her favorite role is being a mother to her daughter,  Beni Doll, who will turn one on June 11.

“It is the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Alaina says on the Bobby Bones Show. “And everyone says that. … When they hand you that baby, your whole life changes. I guess my favorite part is the way she looks at me. I’ve never had someone look at me like that.”

“She’s completely dependent on me,” she continues. “What a gift that I get to be the one that can nurture her and take care of her. My second favorite is probably watching my husband with her. I love him so much more. And I already loved him, but watching him father her is pretty special.”

Alaina has found a way to tour and be a hands-on mother, which she did while opening for Rascal Flatts earlier this year.

“I always dreamed of being on stage and dreamed of touring and doing all of this. And I wanted to be a mom, but I didn’t see how that would fit in, and I didn’t know how I would meet the right guy or do any of those things,” Alaina tells Country Now. “And it’s so funny, now my dream is them. They are my dream, and the other part is the bonus.”
