Luke Bryan Jokes He is a ‘James Beard Chef’ After Feeding So Many People During Quarantine

Luke Bryan might be known for his singing, but apparently he has some impressive culinary skills as well. The “One Margarita” singer shared that, in addition to having his two sons, Bo and Tate, nephew Til and nieces Jordan and Kris during quarantine, he and his wife, Caroline, also had a few extra guests as well.

“We were down at the beach when quarantine really went, where we decided we were just going to stay there,” Luke recalled on Good Morning America. “My nephew Til had a 19-year-old [friend], we had three 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old boy. So for two months, I had to prepare food for literally a football team. I’m like a James Beard chef now, I think.”

It might have been stressful to have so many people under one roof, but thankfully, Luke and Caroline are doing well, in spite of the added stress.

“My wife and I, we’ve had to relearn — being in the crazy business I’m in, we’ve been together for quite a while,’ Luke reflected. “I’m pretty proud … There are some divorces going around out there, these quarantine divorces, but my wife and I, we’re better than ever.”

Luke hosted the recent CMA Best of Fest — a three-hour show looking back at some of the highlights of CMA Fest over the past 16 years. The 43-year-old happily came out of quarantine to host the broadcast, which he admitted was a bit surreal.

“I’m so glad we were able to put a show together with CMA Best of Fest, and let the fans at home relive a lot of these memories. I hosted the show in an empty football stadium. It was very emotional; it was heartbreaking that all of our fans couldn’t be there this year, but it’s just one more testament of how crazy this year is.”

Luke previously said agreeing to host CMA Best of Fest was an easy decision for him to make.

“When [producer Robert Deaton] called me and he goes, ‘Luke, I know you’re kind of in quarantine, but would you want to come up and host the Best of Fest where we showcase great performances throughout the history of CMA Music Fest?’” Luke recalled (via his record label). “And I said, ‘Robert, I’d love to.’  I was glad to be able to work with Deaton and put on a show. I think the fans will enjoy it. Obviously, it’s stuff they’ve seen before, but I think it’s going to be a pretty meaningful show.”

Luke postponed his Proud to Be Right Here Tour until 2021, due to COVID-19. His next album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, will be released on August 7. It is currently available for pre-order at Amazon or Luke’s website.
