Nicole Kidman Reveals If She Would Act Alongside Keith Urban

Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman, both have successful careers, and have each become massive celebrities. Kidman is an award-winning actress, while Urban is a country music superstar. Although both in the entertainment business, Kidman is happy to create a delineation between their two jobs, revealing she has no interest in starring in a TV show with her talented husband.

“No,” Kidman tells People plainly, when asked if she is open to being in a show with Urban. “We’re together in life, so we don’t need to do our show together. Our life is a show.”

No one is a bigger cheerleader for Kidman than Urban, who happily supports her in her various roles in both television and film. The 57-year-old is currently starring in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu.

“So I’m always ready to try things, and I have a huge passion for what I do,” she says. “I love doing what I do, and I’ve been incredibly fortunate in my journey, and I’m just always a bit excited. I don’t take any of it for granted. I’m like, ‘Okay, thank you. Thank you, universe.’”

It’s thanks to Urban that Kidman became a fan of country music. The father of two says it was early in their relationship when Urban introduced her to the genre.

“The very first song I played her was ‘Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way’ by Waylon Jennings,” the recent ACM Triple Crown winner recalls to WKML “I didn’t tell her anything, she just got in the car one day, and I hit play, and that kick drum started, and the guitar started.”

“She starts bopping her head and says, ‘Aw, I like this! What’s this?’” he adds. “So she was hooked from then on.”

Urban might have turned Kidman on to country music, but it’s Kidman whom he can at least partially credit for his sobriety.

“We got married in June 2006 and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions that I’d done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens,” Urban recounts (via People). “And I went into the Betty Ford Center for three months. Four months into a marriage I’m in rehab for three months. I had no idea what was going to happen to us.”

“And if you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl,” he adds. “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own. And she chose love.”

Urban’s father was also an addict, which undoubtedly led to Urban’s own struggles.

“What helped me most in recovery was being able to separate the addict from the person,” Urban tells Addict with Purpose. “And my dad as a person was amazing. But he was an addict. So his addict was not nice, not good, not a good way to be raised.”

The New Zealand native addresses his family history in  “Break the Chain,” the final song on Urban’s latest HIGH album.

Urban’s High and Alive World Tour begins on May 22. Find all of his music and tour dates at KeithUrban.com.
