Hey guys, it's Gail with Everything Nash here with the Bellamy Brothers, my favorites
0:06
How are you guys doing? How are you doing? We're great. And we're going to talk about something that's actually not happening until next year, first of all, but cabins go on sale this week, the Country Music Cruise, you're coming back for 2025
0:19
Why do you want to come back? It's a cruise. It'll be time for our tan, then. So, we need a tan every two or three years
0:33
Is this your fourth time? I kind of lost count, but that sounds right
0:39
So why do you like doing this? We live in Florida anyway, so it's just kind of okay, we're in the tropics, but let's go further in the tropics
0:50
What is appealing to you about, I just hung up with TG Shepard and he was talking about how he loves the chance to really be with the fans for a week. So what is it for you guys
0:59
Yeah, you know, you see, also you see a lot of the entertainers that you don't see very much, occasionally you'll cross paths on the road
1:08
But you know, you're on there for a few days and you get to visit more with them than you normally would. So it's time together with friends and fans
1:19
We were with TG and Kelly on one of the last cruises, that was a lot of fun
1:24
They're fun. I just got back from one this year. I got back and I was like, I might not eat for a few days
1:31
Yeah, that's, that's the problem. Yeah, I think I gained a few pounds on the last one
1:38
Oh, I did. But we're not going to talk about that. So are you the kind of people that like, do you like to be out and among everyone? Or do you like to kind of keep back to yourself? What is it like being on a cruise with you guys
1:51
I actually like to sleep a lot till showtime. But you know, you know, on the cruise, you kind of, no matter what you are, you know, if you're out and about, or if you're social or anti social, you're, you're going to be kind of social on there because you kind of can't help it
2:08
You know, it's just kind of the nature of the cruise. And, you know, everybody has such a good time and there's no, you know, nobody really bothers you. You know, it's the people that do stop you and talk to you here. It's just really good hearted country fans
2:25
Yeah, it's a it's a great, great crowd. Okay, let's talk about something that's happening a lot sooner than the 2025 cruise. Your collaboration with Gene Watson. What a great idea
2:35
Thank you. So why this song? We thought we thought this song would fit him. Well, you know, it's kind of like, you know, this, this song was actually, you know, it's a song we recorded way back
2:53
Right. And I personally was, you know, you can release songs and sometimes it would release a song that would just go gangbusters on the church
3:06
And you want to Wow, I didn't expect that out of that song, but this song was just a solid song and I was very little disappointed and kind of ticked off that it was never released
3:20
For some reason that time period, our label would not release country songs on a stone country songs. Yeah, we've always done them but they always
3:31
So, later on, you know, you get to thinking of how you can get attention, you know, you have to get attention
3:38
So we were, we were doing records at that time we had by Redneck Girl out and, and we had Oh hippie and stuff like that I think the label saw us doing songs more like that than, than, than coming with a stone country release, you know, we're kind of an uptempo
3:56
Which, which we always love the song, what it would show more diversity and what we do if they had done that, you know, but we're gonna, we're doing that now we're gonna we're on our own label for the last since 91
4:09
We're gonna do what we damn please. Yeah. And gene does such a great job and he's such a fabulous singer so yeah he's a great one
4:19
I'm 50 years since let your love flow Am I right in that you're getting close
4:24
Okay, one more year. So, I was just somewhere with my husband and I was trying to remember where I think we were in Florida I think we were on the cruise and the song was playing in a restaurant that we just happened to be walking by, and it's still so iconic
4:37
almost half a century later, talk about that. Well, it was you know it was cut well that that record was cut well. Well, you have to give some of that credit to Neil diamonds band, who was our recording band on that on that song
4:55
You know and it just stood the test of time you know and you know sometimes I hear it when we have it because we do it in show every night. But when I am someplace like a restaurant or something you hear it and I think wow that you know it does hold up you hear that
5:09
the show's come in and it's still there. So I think that's the mark of a good song and, and I'm glad we got one
5:18
And you're still touring, which I looked at your tour schedule right before we logged on and I'm tired. Like I look at it and I'm tired
5:27
I mean you don't have to work so hard. We tried to afford the habits we've, we've developed over the years you know you have to
5:37
You were broke when you first started out you know it doesn't take much, then you get
5:42
I think I'll buy a new truck. I think I'll do a little better go on the road and keep touring
5:48
And you know you got a big family around you a big band becomes family
5:52
And you know, it's, it's, it's just what you do, and you feel awkward if you're not doing, and we feel we feel awkward if we stay home too long
6:01
And of course when we're on the road we feel awkward if we don't come home for a while. So it's, it's kind of maintaining a balance really you're trying to
6:10
And what's the dynamic like between the two of you because you're obviously related your business partners, you can't escape each other. Surely you guys don't always get along right
6:20
I can't ever get him on the telephone. I can't get him on the telephone he doesn't answer my text
6:27
So, I'm a little reclusive. Rightfully so. So, yeah, it just works however it works. Yeah, we don't really have a business plan
6:37
No, there's never been like a grand plan, you know, it never has been, and we've had some luck all our way but we have applied ourselves daily to, you know, making it happen as far as writing and recording which we have a studio here on a ranch
6:53
in Florida. And these days it's just great because you get songs, he'll David I have some songs I'll have some songs and we'll go in and instead of doing demos these days we just record the thing it didn't take any longer
7:08
Our engineers, our guitar player who lives with us for 30 years so
7:13
So we're kind of self contained and, you know, in the meantime we have, you know, we play with the cows and horses and then we'll come record some you know and go tour
7:25
We're very fortunate in that we do the things that we, we have a passion for, you know, and we're able to make a living at it that's just unbelievable I can't
7:35
I feel for people that don't have gigs that they love, you know, it's a wonderful thing
7:43
Well, this not having a business plan has been a really good plan for you guys because it's just saying what else is happening with you guys you have the honkytonk ranch you've got music you've got touring anything else we need to talk about
7:56
Yeah, we're, yeah we're finishing up the fourth season of honkytonk ranch and it's going to start airing in early April, again on circle. And you didn't have enough to do so let's just throw a TV show in there
8:09
And, and, well we kind of started the TV show we started it just before COVID actually but during during COVID we kind of picked it up because we couldn't, we couldn't go anywhere so we, we just kept filming episodes you know, and we've also got a new album coming out that's that this song with Gene Watson is from, and that'll be out probably
8:30
Should I say April or May, and that's going to be like a dozen songs on there
8:36
So that's, that's going to be a lot of fun we've got that can and we got a couple more good surprises on there I think
8:44
And no vacations plan. We, we, you know we are, we travel and we have done at least 772 countries through the year
8:59
So, as far as taking holidays. You know, we do it while we're touring, you know you'll get a few days off, you're lucky enough and great spots, and we, we've been all over the world and, but when we, we get time off this, this is kind of a holiday here at the ranch, especially in the winters
9:18
It's nice to come to Florida and dang roosters. Yeah, there he goes, bring his neck, make dumplings
9:26
But, yeah, we're, we have been very fortunate, you know, in the born here and, you know, we don't we don't know any other way to do it than the way we do it, we couldn't do it any other way
9:40
Well, the way you're doing it is working so. Yeah. Well, I appreciate you talking to us and hopefully I'll see you before then but if not we will for sure catch you on the country music cruise next year
9:54
Oh good you're going to be on that one okay good. We'll see you there if not sooner. Thanks
9:59
Thanks guys have a good day. Yeah
