Popular Nashville Restaurant Announces Closure After 41 Years

Another Nashville restaurant is closing, after more than four decades in business. The owners of McCabe Pub announce that the popular Sylvan Park restaurant will be closing, after 41 years in business. John and Jo Dean opened McCabe Pub in 1982, later sharing ownership with their daughters, Katie and Stefanie. John passed away in 2012.

“Today, we announce that McCabe Pub will close our doors after 41 years in business,” the owners reveal in a statement shared on social media. “This is an emotional and personal decision that was not made lightly but is in the best interest of our family and the business. After decades of serving this strong community, we are ready for the next chapter, and we are confident we are leaving all of you in good hands.

“The good news? We are open for a few more weeks (official last day of service to be announced soon) to end our four-decade streak on a high note!” they continue. “We hope you will come see us for one more ice-cold beer, made-from-scratch veggie platter, slice of homemade dessert, or the best cheeseburger you’ll find in Nashville. It has truly been an honor serving this community, and we will never forget each and every one of you – the memories made here on the corner of Murphy Road and 45th Avenue North will last us a lifetime.”

In a news release, the owners shared more about their decision to close one of Music City’s favorite eateries.

“We are closing still believing in McCabe Pub and what we built over the decades,” Jo Dean said (via The Tennessean). “For more than 40 years, we’ve welcomed multiple generations of customers through our doors offering great food, a fun environment and a tight-knit community. We couldn’t be more thankful for the time and memories made on the corner of Murphy Road and 45th Avenue North.”

The couple’s daughters also shared their thoughts on the end of an era, one that has spanned most of their lives.

“Our parents started a legacy of incredible service, made-from-scratch recipes, ice cold beer, and an atmosphere that feels like home. We are proud to be referred to as the ‘Cheers’ of Nashville and hope our beloved spot will always be remembered,” the sisters said in the news release. “But as we move on, we are confident we are leaving our customer base in good hands.”

McCabe Pub is located at 4410 Murphy Road. A specific closing date has yet to be announced. Keep track of updates at McCabePub.com.
