Randy Travis Announces Release of New Album, 'Same Old Way'

An album of new material is coming from Randy Travis! The Country Music Hall of Fame member just announced the release of Same Old Way, a project of previously recorded songs that have never been released, until now.

“When life throws you a curveball, swing for the fences the ‘same old way’ and hope you knock it out of the park!” Travis says. “Team Travis helped me run the bases on this one, and it feels like a home run! It’s a joy and a blessing to be able to bring new music to my listeners—thank you all for still showing up for me.”

The title track of Same Old Way is available now, along with “Fish On” and “I Don’t Care,” which were previously released. The album, Travis’s first set of all-new material in 18 years, will be available on November 13. Same Old Way is produced by Travis’s longtime producer, Kyle Lehning, who wrote “Same Old Way” with Travis years ago.

Randy Travis Hints at Plans For More Music

Travis has been hinting that he was getting ready to release more music. It’s a feat that at one time seemed impossible, following his 2013 stroke.

“It’s a blessing,” Randy’s wife, Mary Travis, tells Everything Nash, speaking of his new record. “Things could have been so different, with the things that we went through 13 years ago. … Just to hear his voice again. I prayed so hard and so long. I just wanted to hear that voice again. And I listen to the old songs that we’ve all heard. That’s what I have playing in my car. And that’s what I play at home, because I love his voice so much.

“So it means the world to me to get to hear his voice on these new songs,” she adds. “‘Cause nobody did it like Randy Travis did it. I hope that the world will listen. I hope that the world will think that it’s worth the wait.”

Randy Travis Celebrates 40 Years As Part of Country Music

2026 is a pivotal year for Travis. Not only is he releasing more music, but it’s the 40th anniversary of the release of his iconic Storms of Life record. In honor of the milestone, Nashville Palace, where Travis worked before his country music career took off, just named a room after him.

“When he and Kyle finished, they thought, ‘Well, if it’ll sell 40,000 albums, maybe Warner will let us make another one,’” Mary says, speaking of Storms of Life. “And that was what they said when they walked out of the studio. When they completed it, of course, it went on to sell four million, I think. But it was a pivotal album in country music, not just for Randy, but all of country music. I think people wanted to hear that. Maybe the labels and the radio stations didn’t believe it, but Randy believed it. And we’re still listening to it, 40 years later.”
