Randy Travis To Be Honored With Texas Tribute Concert

We already know that Randy Travis is being honored with A Heroes & Friends Tribute to Randy Travis – 1 Night, 1 Place, 1 Time, taking place on October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama, but now another concert honoring the legendary artist is happening as well. A Texas Heroes & Friends Tribute to Randy Travis – 1 Night, 1 Place, 1 Time will take place on November 15 at the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas.

While artists have yet to be announced, Travis’ wife Mary said in a press event ahead of the announcement that the lineup for the event will focus more on Texas-based artists, while the Alabama event will feature artists in Nashville.

“Randy Travis’ imprint on country music is transcendent and artists who have followed in his footsteps continuously ask how they can pay tribute to and be around him,” says Tony Conway, Travis’ manager. “His light shines bright and he is still a force to be reckoned with as a champion for country music and our community. We have no doubt that Texans will show up in mass to celebrate his indelible career!”

“Outback Presents is proud to partner, once again, with Conway Entertainment Group to salute one of the great artists of our time, Randy Travis,” adds Mike Smardak, President of Outback Presents. “We have a long history of producing successful and heartfelt tribute concerts and, along with AEG Presents, we are excited to give Texas a chance to honor one of their adopted sons.”

Although a stroke in 2013 took away Travis’ ability to sing, Mary says it is an honor to have his music celebrated.

“Just to know that he made the music that he made and that it stands the test of time,” she tells Fox News. “And then to have tributes to you when you can’t sing the music, but somebody else will come in, step in for you, and some of the great artists that do step in,  that say, ‘Hey, I want to be one of those that sings your music’ when they have a whole catalog of their own music. But it’s like, ‘I just want to give this time and this energy to singing your music because it made a difference in my life.’”

“And so to have a tribute, that just means you did something right,” she adds. “Somewhere along the line that made a difference. And we don’t want to forget that.”
