Randy Travis has released the official video for his single, “Where That Came From.” The video shows the country music legend playing the song for Carrie Underwood, Vince GillCole Swindell, Clay Walker and more, artists who were all greatly influenced by Travis, and were in awe to hear his voice on a brand-new song.

“Congratulations Randy Travis on the release of Where That Came From!” Underwood wrote. “I had no idea what you had up your sleeve when we recently met, but I’m so honored that you included me to preview this song…it’s amazing.”

Swindell praised Travis for the impact he had on his own career, including which record label he wanted to be on.

“Randy Travis has meant a lot to me over the years,” Swindell said, ahead of the song’s release. “He was my very first concert and one of the reasons I decided to sign with Warner. It has been such an honor to be able to call him a friend and to be able to hear this song with him for the first time is something I’ll never forget. I have a feeling it’s gonna hit everyone just like it did me. What a voice..what a song. Get ready!”

“Where That Came From” is the first single Travis has released since his stroke in 2013.

“Eleven years ago I never thought I would be able to have a hand in music production of any kind, but by God’s grace and the support of family, friends, fellow artists, and fans, I’m able to create the music I so dearly love,” Travis wrote on social media.

“Working with [producer] Kyle Lehning and Warner Music Nashville again has been so special and nostalgic, and I’m so excited to share my new song ‘Where That Came From’ with you today,” he continued. “Many thanks to my wonderful team and the best fans in the world for putting me back in the saddle again! I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

As a result of Travis’ stroke, he lost the ability to speak clearly, and to sing. It was his record label co-president, Cris Lacy, who had the idea to bring his voice back, with the use of AI.

“It’s Randy Travis,” Lacy insisted to CBS News. “Randy’s on the other side of the microphone. It’s still his vocal. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to make music, and to deprive him of that, if he still wants to do that, that’s unconscionable to me.”

Travis’ wife, Mary, whom he wed in 2015, was blown away by hearing her husband sing again, albeit with the help of technology.

“Randy, I remember watching him when he first heard the song after it was completed. It was beautiful because at first, he was surprised, and then he was very pensive, and he was listening and studying,” Mary told the Associated Press. “And then he put his head down and his eyes were a little watery. I think he went through every emotion there was, in those three minutes of just hearing his voice again.”
