Tim McGraw’s latest Here on Earth album is out, and he has his wife, Faith Hill, to thank for at least part of it. The Louisiana native, who has been married to Faith for 23 years, says he recorded the songs on his new set of tunes after learning to sing better while singing with her.
“Five years since my last solo album,” Tim said on the Today Show. “A lot has happened. We were in the middle of our Soul 2 Soul Tour, Faith and I. We did our first duets album [The Rest of Our Life] together. From experience, I know that the times I’ve spent singing with Faith on the tour has made me a better singer. She’s one of the best singers in the world.
“So to sing with her every single night, and to try to keep up with her, I had no choice but to get a little bit better,” he added. “So I wanted to go in and record while I was at that stage.”
Tim and Faith have been enjoying time at home with their youngest child, Audrey, who is supposed to soon be heading off to college, although those plans are currently up in the air because of COVID-19.
“There’s a part of you that’s excited for them,” Tim told the outlet. “You want them to go out and conquer the world and have fun. Do all the things that kids do. But you don’t want them to leave your protection, and you certainly don’t want to feel like they don’t need you anymore. However, in these times, it’s been a little different, because not knowing what’s going to happen with college, with our youngest daughter. For her, it’s not been so good. But for us, it’s been sort of a blessing, because you never see them that much.”
Tim and Faith have spent extra time with all three of their three daughters, including 23-year-old Gracie, and Maggie, 22, during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Our date nights have really been cool for the last four weeks…we’ve had my three daughters in,” Tim told E! News. “Everyone was tested and cleared and we came up on the hill here at the house and we never left. We sat outside, we set up tables outside, we played games, we watched movies. And we had a great time just hanging out.”
“I mean, it was probably one of the most special times we’ve had as a family in a long, long time,” he added. “And despite all the craziness going on in the world, we had a great four weeks together.”
