Walker Hayes Recalls Attempting to Trash Hotel Room in ‘Trash My Heart’ Video [Exclusive]

Walker Hayes was told to literally trash a hotel room for the video for his latest single, “Trash My Heart.” The father of six is used to being responsible and orderly, so being asked to literally wreak havoc on a hotel room was a daunting task for him.

“It was kind of like a boutique hotel with not many rooms near downtown,” Walker told Everything Nash. “What was funny is they were like, ‘OK, we want you to try it. We want you to trash it.’ I couldn’t really, really trash it. I was like, ‘I don’t want to pay for this stuff, so I’m going to delicately try to trash this hotel room.'”

One of the things Walker does in the video is a handstand on the bed, which he admits he doesn’t usually do for anyone but his family.

“I actually do this stuff at home just for fun with the kids,” Walker admitted. “It was really odd. That camera is sitting in the door of the room, and my team, they were behind it and Marissa, my manager was behind it saying, ‘OK, throw the thing here and throw this.’  I didn’t really get the concept.

“I didn’t understand what was happening and the whole time making it go faster –– I didn’t understand that,” he continued. “And then when I watched it, I was like, ‘Guys, this is actually really, really funny.’ My kids loved it too. They actually thought it was funny.”

“Trash My Heart” is from, hopefully, an upcoming new album, although Walker acknowledges those details are still being worked out.

“I have plenty of songs,” Walker said, adding that “Trash My Heart” is one of nine he wrote on a recent writing retreat with a few of his songwriter friends. “All nine of those for sure are album-worthy. My team would agree. We’re kind of in our brain thinking, ideally, I hope it goes Top 10.”
