Watch ‘The Voice’ Finalist Todd Tilghman Perform MercyMe’s ‘I Can Only Imagine’

The Voice finalist Todd Tilghman sang his heart out on the latest episode of the show, taking place remotely on Monday night, May 18. As one of five contestants remaining heading into Tuesday night’s season finale, the pastor chose MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine” for the live finale, singing in the empty church in Meridian, Mississippi, where he serves as a pastor.

Tilghman, who dedicated the performance to his wife, Brooke, and their eight children, impressed all four coaches with his performance, including Kelly Clarkson, who was brought to tears by his rendition of the song.

“I was crying. I know, shocking. But literally, you’re so moving, and it’s because you’re a pastor, and it’s because you have such a bigger belief inside of you than yourself,” Kelly said, taking a second to compose herself. “I would love to come to your church just to hear speak, not only sing. You’re very special.”

Blake also had high praise for Todd, who is on the country singer’s team, even though all four coaches turned their chair around for him during the blind audition.

“My gosh, now I’m gonna cry seeing Kelly cry,” Blake said. “You know, Todd, what she’s saying is true though. That’s the connection you just have with people. Your talent speaks for itself. That’s as good of a vocal as I’ve heard from you, and really anybody this season, because you sing with so much passion, so much precision. You’re just a special dude, man, and America agrees. That’s why you’re in this finale.”

Todd also performed an original song, “Long Way Home,” during the show. Blake has one more contestant in the finale, Toneisha Harris. Todd and Toneisha join Nick Jonas’ Thunderstorm Artis, Kelly’s Micah Iverson and John Legend’s CammWess.

The Season 18 winner of The Voice will be revealed on Tuesday night, May 19, at 8 PM ET on NBC.
