Talk about a dream collaboration. Alexandra Kay is serving as the opening act for select dates on Brad Paisley‘s Truck Still Works Tour. After her opening set, Kay returned later in the evening to sing “Whiskey Lullaby” with Paisley.

Kay, who had been posting on social media about her desire to sing a song with the country music legend, admits it was more than a dream come true for her to sing “Whiskey Lullaby” with Paisley. Fortunately, a fan captured the moment, posting the duet on TikTok.

“First night out with Brad Paisley .. an absolute dream come true,” Kay writes on social media. “I have NEVER seen so many AK T-shirts in the crowd before. I love y’all, thank you for always showing up for us. Brad!! Thanks for this opportunity to play for your incredible fans! I’m forever grateful!”

Kay has been releasing new songs from her next album, her first on  BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The singer-songwriter has already released  “Cupid’s a Cowgirl,” “The Last” and “Feminine Energy” from her next record, the follow-up to her freshman  All I’ve Ever Known project.

“It will definitely be out by the end of the year,” Kay hints to Entertainment-Focus. “In a couple of months, you guys will start hearing more about the actual details of it. The writing is all done, and so anything that I write now will be saved for something like a deluxe version or maybe even the next record – who knows.”

Kay poured a lot of hard work into releasing All I’ve Ever Known on her own. She was fully prepared to release her next album on her own as well, but found a dream team in BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

“It’s been an absolute joy to work with them on this project,” Kay says. “They are so caring and they really put the artist first, which is not something every label does. A lot of people ‘Oh, you were so independent for so long and you waved that flag so high,’ and I did. But it’s been cool to have this incredible team that will push me to the next level now.”

“The Last” is inspired by Kay’s relationship with her band member, Rocko Beall, whom she began dating following her devastating divorce from her former husband, Indiana Touchette.

“I was talking about how I was in a new relationship, and I was very happy and am still in that relationship,” Kay tells Country Now. “And the one thing that always kind of stayed in the back of my mind is, I really hope that me having some of these life experiences before him doesn’t sour them for him at some point in life.

“And so that was kind of just the conversation we were having,” she continues. “And we just started talking about how we wanted to write a song about how it doesn’t matter anything that’s happened prior to this. It’s like life starts now with you and it doesn’t matter what happened first as long as I do that last with you.”

In between opening for Paisley and headlining her own shows, Kay is also the proud owner of a new coffee shop, The Coffee Girl, in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois. Find all of Kay’s music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
