Riley Green is giving an update on his next album. The 36-year-old released Don’t Mind If I Do in 2024, but is already putting the finishing touches on a new record. The project comes as he has a Top 20 hit with the title track of Don’t Mind If I Do, which is a duet with Ella Langley.
“We’re in the studio about to start cutting songs for the next record,” Green reveals on Sirius XM’s The Highway. “So it kind of doesn’t slow down when you have something that works.”
The Alabama native has had a string of hit singles, including “Worst Way,” which became his third No. 1 single. For Green, the successes only motivate him to work harder than ever before.
“I think on the creative side it doesn’t really slow down,” Green reflects. “And people might think when you have a big record or something, it’s kind of like, ‘Well I can relax.’ And that’s just not the case. It’s really like, ‘Where’s the next one at?’ And for me, when I was writing all the songs for Don’t Mind If I Do, it really never stopped. I was kind of in that mindset of I need a lot of songs right now. And it’s exciting to be able to continually record new music. I think that’s the most fun part of it is writing and recording.”
How Riley Green Is Writing Songs For His Next Album
Green writes or co-writes a lot of songs for his records. penning both “Worst Way” and “Don’t Mind If I Do” by himself. For Green, one of his favorite things to do is write songs, which can be a blessing and a curse.
“I think it’s a balance,” Green reflects. “I think you have to use that as motivation to make yourself write. I might play five or six shows in a row, and sit my guitar down and not want to look at it for two weeks. And I think the fact that I enjoy songwriting so much allows me to continue to do it. But at the same time, it’s keeping that motivation, and then also keeping it light enough to where you’re not trying to force something is the constant battle.”
When Riley Green Says About He Will Release Next Album
Green doesn’t have a specific release date yet for his new set of tunes. But he does hint that his next album will be out about the same time his headlining Cowboy As It Gets Tour begins.
“We’re going to go into the studio this fall, and probably release new music between now and then,” Green tells Billboard. “And then try to have the whole album out around the time the tour starts.”

Green’s Cowboy As It Gets Tour includes some massive venues, including Nashville’s own Bridgestone Arena. For Green, it’s just a reminder of how far he has already come.
“It’s really awesome,” Green says. “I think [moving to arenas] probably means more to me than a lot of steps in my career, just because arenas are the perfect-size venue. I’ve been fortunate to be able to go on tour with a lot of great artists. I did stadiums with Luke Combs, and that was a really great opportunity. But there’s something about a stadium — it’s so big and there are so many people that seem like they’re miles away from you.
“I love that an arena can kind of somewhat still feel like an intimate setting,” he adds. “There’s no bad ticket in an arena, so that’s a lot of fun for me.”
Green will be joined on the tour by Justin Moore, a dream lineup for Green.
“I was a huge Justin Moore fan as a kid. I’ve still got a picture of me at meet and greet where he opened for Eric Church when I was about 23,” Green says. “And it’s just so cool to be able to go out on the road with him and hear him play all of his hits and maybe even introduce him to some of my fans.”
