I Didn’t Come Here To Leave, the tenth album from Chris Young is here! The record, Young’s first on Black River Entertainment, is available now.
Young shares his thoughts on I Didn’t Come Here To Leave on social media.
“My new album I Didn’t Come Here To Leave is officially out now!” Young writes. “I genuinely think this is one of my favorite things I’ve ever made. That’s not just talk—I’m really proud of this album. Even if it doesn’t land with everyone, I know what it means to me. I look at this album and there are songs that make you want to buy a beer, and there’s songs that if you broke up with somebody, you’re going to want to cry. For different reasons, I feel like this is a complete album. It’s one I’m so proud of and I hope you love it.”

The Significance of Chris Young’s Album Release Date
October 17 is an important date for Young, for more than just releasing a new album. It was on October 17, 2017, when Young was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Brad Paisley, after Vince Gill surprised him with the invitation to join.
“We didn’t do that on purpose, but I’m honestly really happy that it did happen that way,” Young reveals at a recent media event. “Being a member of the Grand Ole Opry is something that’s greatly important to me, mainly because a lot of my country music knowledge from the past. And what I ended up doing in the future came from my grandfather. and sitting at his house. He had a little music room. He played piano and played guitar. I listened to a lot of Marty Robbins records with him when I was at his house. So I’ve always had a deep respect for the history of country music.”
Young may be a seasoned member by now, but he still gets a thrill every time he gets to perform on the historic stage.
“It’s one of the reasons that I get excited every single time I walk in that door,” Young says. “I look to the left, and my name’s still there. I’m like, ‘Is it there? Yeah, okay. It’s still here.’ [It’s] very, very exciting. And obviously being able to marry those two things with an anniversary of becoming an Opry member, and a member of that family with an album launch when it’s my tenth album is pretty incredible.”
The Title Track of Chris Young’s ‘I Didn’t Come Here To Leave’ Album
Young penned the title track of I Didn’t Come Here To Leave with Kyle Fishman and Dallas Davidson. A catchy song, it is also a statement about Young, and his future in country music.
“I just had a lot of fun with this song,” the 40-year-old says. “And I also thought it was a statement of sort of where I’m at in my career, which is weird because if you think about my age compared to some other people that got started, at least on a label, much later than me. They’re older than me, so it’s very interesting to look at it. But I think that being around for 20 years on record labels, I think that’s indicative of that. And it’s sort of me just looking at everybody going, ‘I still have more to say.'”
