Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean Share the Story Behind Their ‘Easier Gone’ Duet

Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Aldean, are sharing the story behind their “Easier Gone” duet, out now. The song is part of Aldean’s forthcoming Songs About Us album, which will be out on April 24.

“People have always asked if we were ever going to do anything,” Brittany says in a video shared on social media. “And I think we were kind of nonchalant about it for a long time. Jason always said it would have to be the right song. Finally, one came along.”

“I feel like sometimes when husbands and wives do things, it can be cool or not cool,” Jason remarks. “And I actually told her in the studio, I said, ‘Listen, we’re gonna try this out. We have this really cool song that I thought would be amazing.”

Brittany Aldean Reveals What Jason Aldean Said to Her About Singing On ‘Easier Gone’

Before dating Jason, Brittany competed on Season 11 of American Idol in 2012. A talented singer, the father of four still wasn’t sure how she would sound on “Easier Gone.”

“You said, ‘If it doesn’t work out with you, then we’re just going to have to move on. Don’t be mad at me,” Brittany remembers. “And I was like, ‘I’m not going to be mad at you. But I would love to try. I’m so appreciative for the opportunity.’ So I went in; I was obviously nervous working with people who do this for a living. And it was all kind of new to me. But they were so great, everybody on the team. And they step-by-step walked me through it. I feel like it turned out so good.”

Fortunately, her proud husband was thrilled with the end result.

“She did amazing,” Jason boasts. “I hear her sing all the time at home, and in the car, in the shower, and everywhere else. But to go in the studio, it’s a little bit of a different vibe. So she went in, did amazing.”

“I was determined,” Brittany adds. “I was like, you’re not going to give me this opportunity, and then I’m going to fail. Absolutely not.”

Jason Aldean’s ‘Songs About Us’ Album

Songs About Us is Jason’s 12th studio album, and likely his most personal yet. In addition to “Easier Gone,” he has also released “Help You Remember,” a song inspired by both his uncle and his father-in-law’s battle with dementia, plus “Her Favorite Color,”  and  “How Far Does A Goodbye Go,” Jason’s recent No. 1 hit. Brittany stars in the “How Far Does A Goodbye Go”  video.

“They’re all on there for a reason,” Jason tells Nashville Lifestyles. “You need tempos, you need ballads, you need different things. But everything on this record was put there intentionally.”

“Easier Gone” is written by Lady A’s Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, plus Josh Kerr and Jimmy Robbins.
