Karen Waldrup Premieres Lyric Video for 'All That Mess' [WATCH]

Karen Waldrup’s lyric video for “All That Mess” is out, and she is giving Everything Nash readers an exclusive first look. The uptempo song was written by Waldrup and Darcie Morin.

“All That Mess” says in part, “You can’t win when you lose yourself / Trying to be somebody else / Well I’m done with tryin’ to impress . Life’s too short for all that mess.”

“Life is too short to surround yourself with people who aren’t honest, create unnecessary complications or bring negativity and chaos into your world,” Walderup says of the song. “At some point, you have to recognize what adds value to your life and what simply weighs you down. ‘All That Mess’ is an empowering anthem for anyone who has reached that point and is ready to let go of the drama, stand their ground and move forward.”

When releasing “All That Mess,” Waldrup said she was channeling two of her musical heroes in creating the sound.

“This song brings to mind a wild blend of Shania Twain and Heart’s Ann Wilson at the absolute top of their careers,” Waldrup tells Whiskey Riff. “‘All That Mess’ is the ultimate power anthem for anyone who’s simply had enough.”

Karen Walderup’s Time on ‘The Voice’

Waldrup made it to the Top 5 on The Voice in 2025, on Dan + Shay’s team, before being eliminated. Still, she has nothing but gratitude for the experience.

“The Voice was a whirlwind,” Waldrup tells Everything Nash. “It was amazing … It was such a great experience. I learned so much. And that’s the biggest thing; when you go do something like that, you’re walking into it completely clueless of what’s going to go on, or how things are going to go down, or what songs you’re going to sing, or what you’re going to wear. You have no idea. So it also taught me flexibility.:

“I’ve already been flexible because we tour a lot, being on the highway, you’ve got to be flexible,” she continues. “But The Voice taught me to really be flexible, because you just had to roll with the punches. You got your schedule that morning. It was pretty wild. You had to roll with it. But it was a great experience, and it just expanded my already existing fanbase, and made it even bigger. It’s been really good.”

All the Lyrics to “All That Mess” by Karen Waldrup

I used to shrink to fit their ideas
Say “yes, ma’am” and fold like a tortilla
Played it nice, played it small
Just to keep from rufflin’ feathers at all
But I lost pieces tryin’ to please
And that kind of livin’ ain’t livin’ for me

You learn real quick when you get burned
Some things just ain’t worth the hurt

Life’s too short to worry ‘bout what they say
To hide your truth and dim your flame
Ain’t got time for playin’ roles
For countin’ likes or chasin’ gold
You can’t win when you lose yourself
Trying to be somebody else
Well I’m done with tryin’ to impress
Life’s too short for all that mess
