Jelly Roll Announces He Is Taking Time Off 'For a Year or Two' to Heal

Fans won’t see Jelly Roll for a while. The Nashville native just wrapped up his tour with Post Malone, and now says he is taking a break.

“This has truly been a lifetime experience for me,” Jelly Roll told the crowd (via People). “And in a couple of nights, I go to Colorado Springs and do my last show for a year or two. I’m fixing to take some time off and heal. Thank you for the opportunity.”

Jelly Roll currently does not have any dates listed on his tour calendar.

In May, Jelly Roll filed for divorce from his wife, Bunnie Xo. In a video shared on social media, the singer said there were no hard feelings amid their split.

“Me and my wife are best friends,” he said. “We will always be best friends. I will love her. She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her.”

Jelly Roll may need time to heal after splitting from his wife, whom he wed in 2106. But 2026 hasn’t been all pain and heartache for Jelly Roll. In March, he was inducted into the  Grand Ole Opryy by his good friend,  Lainey Wilson.

“To take a convicted felon from the Music City who found country music — I didn’t find Nashville because of country music. I found country music because of Nashville, because I’m from here,” Jelly Roll begins his speech. “You take that kid that’s been in that local juvenile with Miss [Yolanda] Hockett, that’s been in that local county jail with Sheriff [Daron] Hall. And you bring him here, and you give him Grammys, and you give him awards and platinum plaques, and you make him a member of the most prestigious group. Less than 230 people are members of the Grand Old Opry.

“And every word of that I said, it sounded like I was telling you a lot about myself,” he adds. “But that is a story that only God can be the author of.”

Jelly Roll Focuses On His Health

Jelly Roll is also a much healthier person physically than he used to be. The singer has lost around 300 pounds, giving him a new lease on life.

“I’ve gotten closer to God,” Jelly Roll tells Extra. “I’ve gotten closer to myself. I’m a better father. I’m more present with my children. You should see it. I mean, I’m coaching my son’s basketball team this year. They’re kids. I’m not coaching like a competitive team or anything here.”

“I just feel physically better, and I feel like I can physically do [things],” he continues. “Dude, when you’re 550 lbs, you wonder if they have a seat big enough for you. You definitely don’t think about trying to coach a team. You wonder if there’s a bench you can sit on. So, it’s like for God to just even make that big of a difference, and to have the weight off — literally, the weight. 300 pounds —  I’m a whole different human.”
