Emily Ann Roberts Is 'So Tired' of Male-Bashing Songs in Country Music

Emily Ann Roberts wants no part of the typical male-bashing songs in country music. The 27-year-old reveals that she wants to be a voice as a female artist that celebrates men, instead of putting them down.

“I personally am so tired of the man-hater topic,” Roberts says on Net Positive. “I don’t hate men. I love my husband, I love my dad. I have great uncles. My whole band is just a bunch of boys, and they’re my best friends in the whole world. A guy who comes to my concert, I don’t want him to leave and be like, ‘Golly, I hate myself.'”

Roberts recalls one pivotal moment for her, when she was part of CMT‘s Next Women of Country in 2024.

“I did that CMT Next Women of Country thing back in 2024, and I’ll never forget, my brother-in-law came,” Roberts recalls. “And when we left, I said, ‘What did you think?’ Each girl, there were like 12 of us, each girl got to sing a song. And he said, ‘I think that I feel horrible about being a man.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? Can we change the narrative?’ If I was a dude, I would think that it would be kind of cool for a girl to hype up her man. Do you want your girl to belittle you and make fun of you, and act like he’s an idiot all the time? No.”

Emily Ann Roberts Reveals Her Biggest Dreams

Roberts just opened up about two of her biggest dreams, including one that has nothing to do with country music.

“I want to be Entertainer of the Year … Five years from now, heck yeah, I want to be Entertainer of the Year,” Roberts says on Apple Music‘s The Ward Guenther Show.

“I want to be the first six-syllable name [for] Entertainer of the Year,” she adds.

Roberts also wants to expand Sasser House, which Roberts and her husband, Chris Sasser, use on social media to show their life behind the scenes, including her gardening skills, cooking, and more.

“A huge dream that Chris and I have for Sasser House is to have a true brick-and-mortar place that people can come to and experience what they see and what they’ve fallen in love with online,” Roberts reveals.

Roberts’ new Thread EP is out now. All of the five songs on the record were co-written by Roberts.

“This EP is the start of a new chapter that has been in the works since I finished Can’t Hide Country in 2023,” Roberts says. “Memories, moments, joy, tears, and longing shaped this season and the new music reflects all of that.”

Thread includes “Laundry,” the first song Roberts released from the project.

“I was writing with Jessi Alexander, Wyatt McCubbin, and Ben Williams and Jessi told us the idea for this song came to her in a dream,” Roberts recalls. “She told the story of an unfaithful husband who was off chasing his career, while his wife was home trying to keep the house, kids, and family together. Songs like this one make me more excited than ever to sing country music. It’s raw, real, and heartbreaking, but so is much of the life we live. I’m honored Jessi shared this idea with me.”

Roberts is nominated for New Artist of the Year, her first-ever CMA Awards nomination. The 2026 CMA Awards will air live on Wednesday, November 18, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
