Alexandra Kay Calls Jelly Roll An ‘Incredible Human’ After Opening For Him

Alexandra Kay has a lot of love and admiration for Jelly Roll. The “I Hate Airplanes” singer praised the superstar, after opening for him at the North Dakota State Fair over the weekend.

“I got to witness this incredible human play to 18,000 people last night,” Kay shared on social media. “In the midst of his sky rocket to the top he is always reaching out a hand to someone who looks up to him. Last night, and many times before… that hand was extended to me. The words he spoke of me and my career on the stage last night will stay with me forever.. and the opportunity to perform in front of his loyal and dedicated fan base was an absolute honor. Thank you Jelly Roll and ND State Fair for having me!”

The admiration clearly goes both ways. After Kay shared her praise of Jelly Roll, the “Save Me” singer also praised Kay as well.

“We all love you, [Alexandra Kay],” Jelly Roll tweeted. “Can’t wait for the rest of the world to hear your music.”

The Illinois native also shared that she first met Jelly Roll in 2022, when he left a lasting impression on her.

“This pic is from last May, when I met [Jelly Roll] at an event on Music Row in Nash,” Kay posted ahead of the show. “That day he stopped me in the crowd & gave me words of encouragement & advice that I will never forget. Today, I’m opening a show for him at the ND St Fair… time flies when you’re having fun”

Kay will release her debut album this fall, a project she says will share all of the highs and lows she has experienced within the last year.

“I’m kind of going through it,” Kay shared on St. Louis radio station 92.3 WIL. “I’m going through it a little bit in my personal life … I’ve had some major life changes over the last year. I’m putting out my first debut album in October, and it’s a first look into my life. I’ve given a lot of my personal life to the public over the past eight years, almost ten years that I’ve been on social media. I share and I overshare. I let everybody in, and so everybody has been asking a lot of questions, a lot of comments of, ‘Why have you not explained all these changes that everyone is noticing?’”

“I’m in a healing process,” she continued. “I wrote through it over the last year, and that’s the album everybody’s going to get in October. And so, I’m really excited to let everybody in on how I’ve been going through the last year, and what’s been going on, and how I’ve grown through it.”
