Ashley McBryde to Join Cody Johnson on Leather Tour This Fall

Ashley McBryde is joining Cody Johnson on tour! The Grand Ole Opry member revealed the news in a video she shared on social media.

“Finally !! We are so excited to be keeping the road hot with COJO this fall!!,” McBryde captioned the video. “Cody Johnson and I have been dying to make this happen! Yall ready?”

McBryde’s latest album, The Devil I Know, was released in September. McBryde had a Top 25 hit with the debut single, “Light On In The Kitchen,” and is back at radio with the record’s title track.

“You could take any artist, any album from any artist and try naming their record any song title on the record and see how that changes,” McBryde reflected to her record label, speaking of the project’s unique artwork. “And if you think about it, if you had named it ‘The Coldest Beer In Town,’ what would the album cover look like? If we had named it ‘Single At The Same Time,’ what would the album cover look like? So, when we decided we’re going to go with ‘The Devil I Know’ and then the shot that wound up being the album cover was not what we were shooting.

“That was another thing that Katie Kauss, the photographer said, ‘Hey, while I’ve got you in each of these looks, let’s have you stand over here. And do this. Stand over here and do this. Just trust me. It’s going to be a fun thing that we’ll have,'” she added. “And then she’s like, ‘Oh, here’s a quick edit of that thing, that that I shot. In each of the looks’ and I was like (gasp) that’s the cover!”

When announcing the release of The Devil I Know, the Grand Ole Opry member said the entire project was inspired by all of the criticisms she has received in the past.

“‘Y’all are too country.’ We leaned into that – more country it is,” McBryde said at the time. “‘Y’all are awfully rock-leaning for a country artist.’ Is that so? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. ‘Last thing y’all need is another tender, finger-pickin’ song.’ Oh? Tender makes you uneasy, cowboy? I hear you. Let’s see how much more tender we can be.

“We listened to all those opinions and said, ‘I hear you. I understand what you’re saying,'” she added. “But sadly, there’s no room on the record for your opinion. We’ll do what we want.”

McBryde is currently headlining her The Devil I Know Tour. Johnson just announced additional dates on his Leather Tour. Find his dates at CodyJohnsonMusic.com.
