Brandon Davis Releases ‘Jesus and Jesse James’ Video [WATCH]

The video for Brandon Davis‘ latest single, “Jesus and Jesse James,” which stars his wife, Destiny, and their four children, is out. The song is the title track of his upcoming EP, out on April 28

“This one’s just special,” Davis shared on social media, ahead of the video premiere. “Special because we all got to be involved in it. I’m so excited to be able to share it with everybody. My wife killed it on the production, so big props to her for being a jack of all trades essentially, because she is. She kills it in everything … If you love the song, the music video’s just icing on the cake.”

“Jesus and Jesse James” is the title of Davis’ forthcoming new EP. The Tennessee native has been teasing other songs ahead of the release of Jesus and Jesse James, which features seven other songs besides the title track.

“We’ve had a lot going on over the last few weeks,” said the singer. “It’s been so much excitement: new music, [and] the content has been so fun to create when it comes to this western music video we got to do with ‘Jesus and Jesse James.’ We just started sneak-peeking some more songs from the upcoming EP. If you haven’t checked those out, go look at the one,, ‘Lightning in a Mason Jar.'”

“Jesus and Jesse James” was written by Davis, along with Clay Mills and Peter Daniel Newman, inspired by the dual roles he has as a father.

“It’s my job to teach my children to make good choices but also my job to make sure they stick together and protect one another at the end of the day,” Davis explained to American Songwriter. “I think that’s where Jesse James comes in… being ready to fiercely protect those you love no matter what.”

“Jesus and Jesse James” began at the Songtown USA songwriter’s clinic, where he teamed up with other songwriters, some for the first time.

“The story behind this song is actually pretty unique,” Davis said. “This clinic allowed me to work with a bunch of aspiring songwriters who were able to directly pitch me a chorus to a song that they’d then get to write with me as part of the course. ‘Jesus and Jesse James’ was the song that immediately stood out to me and I was hooked on the idea.”
