Brothers Osborne to Receive the 2023 Angels Among Us Award

Brothers Osborne are soon going to have another accolade, but this one has nothing to do with their music. The duo, made up of siblings John and TJ Osborne, will receive the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award, given to artists who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Brothers Osborne will receive the honor at the annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids event this fall, which raises more than $45 million annually to support the work of St. Jude.

“What an amazing honor to receive the Angels Among Us Award from St. Jude,”  John Osborne says. “We constantly find inspiration when spending time with the patients and families of St. Jude. Together with other artists and country radio listeners, we can make a difference in helping ensure no family receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing the focus to be on helping their child live. It’s an incredible mission, and we are grateful to be in a place to support such an amazing cause.”

It was Owen who started Country Cares for St. Jude Kids as a way to help raise money so children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses could receive completely free medical care. The Alabama singer began the initiative in 1989, raising well over $800 million to support the work of St. Jude since then.

Brothers Osborne will receive the Angels Among Us Award only a few weeks after they release their self-titled fourth studio album, out on September 15. The record includes their current Top 30 single, “Nobody’s Nobody,” along with ten other tracks, all co-written by Brothers Osborne.

“We’ve always had a lot of mystery intentionally around the things we have done, but with this album, we decided to be all in,” TJ says of the project. “And doing that reminded me of what it was like when I first started playing music, when it was an outlet for my angst or just a way to have fun.”

“This is a defining record at this point in our career, where we needed to put it all on our shoulders,” he adds. “And we did. Like it was when we were growing up, it’s just John and me.”

Brothers Osborne join a lengthy list of artists who have been recipients of the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award, including Florida Georgia Line Lady AJake OwenBrad PaisleyJohn RichDarius Rucker, among others, and Scotty McCreery, who received the Angels Among Us Award in 2022.
