Buddy Jewell Announces Release of ‘Bluebonnet Highway’ Album

New music is coming from Buddy Jewell! The Season 1 winner of Nashville Star just announced he will release Bluebonnet Highway on June 26, a collection of new songs, cover songs, and some of his previous hits.

“I had so much fun making this record,” Buddy said in a statement. “My producer Mitchell Brown and friend Ernie Evans approached me with the idea of doing this project and were very instrumental in helping me pick the songs. I owe most of this mess or success to those two guys!”

Buddy began working on Bluebonnet Highway prior to being forced to self-isolate because of COVID-19, but had to do his vocals at home, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although that wasn’t how he planned on finishing the album, the 59-year-old says that in some ways, it makes his latest project even more meaningful for him.

“It’s like getting to take that first big breath of fresh air after you been waiting to exhale for so long,” Buddy acknowledged. “Getting to release Bluebonnet Highway has felt like breaking out of a dark, dreary dungeon into bright, beautiful sunlight. The catharsis has been amazing. If I could choose one thing for people to feel when they listen to it, I would want them to feel the joy that I felt during the entire process and the freedom of getting to make this project.”

Bluebonnet Highway is being released on Diamond Dust Records. His first single is “Teardrop in the Gulf of Mexico,” which Buddy wrote with hit tunesmith Jerry Salley. See a complete track list below, and pre-order the record by visiting his website.
