Cody Johnson Celebrates Becoming a Pandora Billionaire

2022 is shaping up to be a good year for Cody Johnson and his music career. After receiving two CMA Awards, for Music Video of the Year and Single of the Year, both for his No. 1 hit, “‘Til You Can’t,” the Texan also is celebrating receiving the Pandora Billionaire plaque, signifying more than one billion streams on the platform.

“This is all because of the fans, they did this,” Johnson says. “They’ve stuck with me for many years and never cease to surprise me in their constant support and involvement.”

Johnson, whose Pandora streams are currently at 1.5 billion, is so grateful for both of his CMA Awards, but especially for Single of the Year, which he says is the one he wanted the most of his four nominations.

“If I’m being honest, Single of the Year is the one that I wanted. That’s a team victory,” Johnson said backstage at the CMA Awards. “That’s Warner Music Nashville pushing my first No. 1, platinum single on Billboard, and it couldn’t have gone better. ”

Johnson found out ahead of the live broadcast of the CMA Awards ceremony that he won his first CMA Award, for Music Video of the Year.

“My wife was shaking me to wake me up and I thought, ‘What in the world could possibly be so important that you’re waking me up?” Johnson recalled. “It was because we won Video of the Year. It was an incredible moment. I’m glad I got to share that with her in a hotel room where I got to actually act like I wanted to, cause I’m pretty conservative while I’m in there with the cameras. Dustin Haney produced a wonderful video.”

Johnson will release a new live album, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live, on December 2.

“There is nothing I enjoy more than getting to play live shows with this band,” Johnson said of his next project. “We’ve travelled a lot of miles in the last 15 years and lived a lot of life together. This record is allowing us to deliver a live concert directly to the fans.”

Johnson is spending the next several months headlining his own shows, with Randy Houser serving as his opening act. He will also join Luke Combs for select dates on his  World Tour in 2023. Find all of Johnson’s music and upcoming shows at CodyJohnsonMusic.com.
