Darius Rucker Announces New Single With Lady A, Out This Summer

There’s new music coming from Darius Rucker, and it includes Lady A! The Hootie & the Blowfish frontman reveals he will release a new single with the trio, later this summer.

“I have a new single coming out this summer with Lady A,” Darius told Opry.com. “I’m really excited and can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s a lot of fun.”

This won’t be their first collaboration together. Lady A previously joined Darius on his remake of the Bob Dylan song, “Wagon Wheel,” which became his first multi-platinum hit as a country artist. The two acts also toured together in 2018, on their co-headlining Summer Plays On Tour.

Darius, like so many other artists, didn’t plan on being home for this long because of COVID-19, but is finding the silver lining in his time off the road.

“[I’m] mostly doing a lot of songwriting, actually tons of writing —  being around the house, doing stuff around the house that I never get time for,” he revealed. “And playing golf when the course is open.”

The 54-year-old, who just moved from his native South Carolina to Nashville, is also enjoying time with his three children.

“It has been crazy and tough, and I miss playing music a lot,” Darius acknowledged. “I’ve been spending a lot of time and getting closer with the kids. I haven’t been home this long since I was in college.”

Darius performed to an empty Grand Ole Opry over the weekend. Audience or not, the hallowed stage remains his favorite place to perform.

“When I was asked to be a member of the Opry, it was a huge honor and a validation for me,” Darius recalled. “It was saying that I was definitely part of the family — and now  it’s a home away from home for me.”

Darius was just announced as one of the performers, along with Brad Paisley. Jon Pardi and Nelly, for the upcoming Live From the Drive-In Concert Series, taking place in three cities, including Nashville.

No word yet when the new single will be released. Updates will be posted at DariusRucker.com.
