Scotty McCreery is spending more time at home with his wife, Gabi, because of being off the road due to COVID-19. After two years of marriage, the American Idol alum says he is finally learning some basic rules of living at home, such as putting the toilet seat down.
“I would say I’ve gotten a little bit better through quarantine, because I’ve just been home more, and I think I’m learning more home etiquette,” Scotty shared on the Bobby Bones Show. “Home etiquette and bus etiquette are two totally different things, I would say.”
Scotty is definitely enjoying more time with Gabi, but he admits he sleeps better when he’s on the road.
“I do (miss the bus),” Scotty revealed. “I’ve always lived, and I sleep better on the bus, because the engine’s kind of lulling me to sleep. You have endless snacks right above your head, that you can just pull out whenever you’re hungry. I’m itching to get back on the road.”
Scotty just celebrated his third consecutive No. 1 hit, with “In Between.” His streak of chart-topping singles began with “Five More Minutes,” written about his grandfather, followed by “This Is It,” which he used to propose to Gabi.
“I wrote the song two weeks before we got engaged, and the first time I played it for her, she had just said ‘Yes,’” Scotty told Kix Brooks on American Country Countdown (via Nash Country Daily). “I had her family and my family drive up and meet us, and I flew her sister in from Oklahoma, and they were all surprising her at the house. And then, we all sat down in the living room and I played it for her over the speakers. There were some waterworks, for sure. It was a pretty special moment.”
