Dolly Parton is giving her fans a gift in honor of her 78th birthday! The country music icon announces the release of Rockstar Deluxe, a total of nine new songs added to her Rockstar album that was released in November. The new version features five songs that were previously released exclusively to select retailers, and four songs that fans get to hear for the first time.
“It’s my Birthday so I’m going to give you a present!” Parton shares on social media. “I’m releasing four never released songs for my birthday, to go with the Rockstar album, and a few others that you may have heard before that were not on the album. I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you all have a happy birthday for me! LOL.”

Parton, who decided to create Rockstar after she found out that she was being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is joined on the original Rockstar album by an impressive list of iconic singers, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton, Paul McCartney, Linda Perry, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks and more.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am of the Rockstar album, and I can’t tell you how happy I am that it’s finally here to be released,” Parton said when Rcokstar was available for the world to hear. “I really had a wonderful time working with all these iconic artists on the record and all these iconic musicians. Not to mention all these iconic songs that I think everybody will love hearing again. I just hope you enjoy my version of them.”
Perhaps surprisingly, when the Tennessee native decided to record a rock and roll album, she didn’t initially plan on having so many guest artists join her on the project.
“I had recorded a lot of the songs myself before I even realized that I was really going to hit on people to come sing with me,” Parton explained to Billboard. “Then after I recorded them, I was like, ‘Oh my goodness. If I’m going to do ‘Let It Be’ [or] ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,’ I’m going to ask the people known for those songs if they will do it.”
