Ella Langley, 'Loving Life Again': Story Behind the Song

Ella Langley is back at radio with a new hit single. The Alabama native just released “Loving Life Again,” a song from her latest Dandelion album. Langley wrote “Loving Life Again” with Ernest Smith and Devin Dawson, after going through some intense personal reflection, which caused her to take some time away from touring to focus on her mental health.

“‘Loving Life Again’ is one of those songs that I wrote almost because I needed to,” Langley says in a video shared on social media. “Obviously, last year, I just kind of lost my mind a little bit. My imposter syndrome kicked in, and my life was moving faster than ever. All my dreams were coming true, but I felt sad for some reason. Just that in itself was frustrating. So I kind of lost myself a little bit last year, and that was tough, because all of these amazing things were happening in my life.”

At the time, it seemed that Langley had no reason to be upset, at least on the outside. She had hit singles, won multiple awards, and was busy on the road, including opening for Morgan Wallen.

“You would think you’d be the happiest person in the world,” Langley concedes. “I never canceled anything, maybe one or two shows the whole time. I ended up canceling two weeks’ worth. So I did that, I came back [home]. I closed on my first house in Alabama, right around the same time, and I really just got to be back home with my family. I got to grow my relationship with my faith.

“When I looked in the mirror, I looked like myself again by the end of those two weeks,” she adds. “I was hanging out with Ernest. He asked, ‘Well, how you doing?’ And I kind of just looked at him and was like, ‘It’s like I’m back to loving life again.’”

Ella Langley Reveals Other Goals Outside of Country Music

It’s hard to dispute that Langley is one of the biggest reigning superstars in country music right now. She continues to make history with her massive single, “Choosin’ Texas.” She also just had a No. 1 hit with “Be Her.” Although Langley is profoundly grateful for all of her success, the 27-year-old reveals she has big dreams, including one that goes beyond country music.

“Sell out a stadium, more than one,” Langley tells Billboard, when asked what some of her loftiest goals are that she hopes to achieve. “That’s always been my goal. People in the beginning always used to ask me, ‘Well, how far do you want to take this thing?’ I said, ‘I guess as far it will let me go.’ And to me, that’s a stadium, so that’s my big one. I want to act. So I’d love to start doing that in the next year. There are so many venues that I want to play.

“I want to headline Red Rocks,” she continues. “I’ve opened Red Rocks, but I’ve never headlined. Have a saxophone in my band. I could keep going with my goals. I really think of plenty more every day. At this point, I’m just going to start reaching for the stars, literally.”
