Gabby Barrett Gets Nostalgic With ‘Dance Like No One’s Watching’ Video [WATCH]

The video for Gabby Barrett‘s “Dance Like No One’s Watching” is out. The mother of three, who included the song on her latest Chapter & Verse album, admits she was a bit nostalgic watching the story come to life in the video.

“I haven’t been to a school dance since I was much younger, so it was so neat to step back into that atmosphere,” Barrett tells CMT. “It honestly really got me excited for my little girls’ future dances – I can’t wait to see them all dressed up with their daddy!”

The video begins with a little girl in a school gymnasium with her father, with clips throughout her life shown throughout the video.

“I was getting close to the birth of my third baby at that time,” Barrett says, recalling when she saw the video for the first time. “So seeing the sweet little actress ‘grow up’ on film got really emotional for me. I couldn’t help but think of my relationship with my dad growing up, and my husband’s relationship with our girls. I hope everyone loves this video as much as I do. It’s a really special one.”

“Dance Like No One’s Watching” was written by Luke Combs, Emily Weisband and James McNair, and Barrett knew as soon as Combs sent it to her that she wanted to record it for her new album.

“It’s such a sweet montage of a woman’s life – from her first dance as a child with her dad to their dance on her wedding day,” Barrett says. “I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, and this video equally shares that feeling.”

Barrett still remembers when Combs sent her the song, which she listened to in an unlikely place, and instantly fell in love with it.

“They wrote this absolutely amazing, beautiful song. I was in the bathtub, got a text message,” Barrett recalls to her record label. “It was from Luke, and he just sent me the song and said that the song wouldn’t make sense for him to sing, but he kindly thought of me with it.”

Chapter & Verse, Barrett’s sophomore album, follows her debut Goldmine album, released in 2020. Grateful for the success on Goldmine, which included her multi-platinum hit, “I Hope,” plus “The Good Ones,” “Pick Me Up” and more, the 24-year-old was eager to share more of her story on the deeply personal Chapter & Verse project.

“This one now, getting to know about myself and what I want to talk about with this next album, was fun to figure out and really dial down,” Barrett said ahead of the release of her sophomore project. “I feel like there’s more consistency with this coming album than the first one, and definitely leans more in the country roots.

“So all that to say, it’s been really fun getting to create this body of work,” she added. “And I really did have a specific vision for it, and just what life has looked like for me the past couple of years. So it’s fun to explain that to everybody.
