Garth Brooks Drops Inspiring New Song, ‘We Belong Together’

There’s new music from Garth Brooks! The Oklahoma native wrote “We Belong Together,” inspired by the challenges and struggles of life, especially now. Garth sent the song to his good friend, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, who premiered the uplifting song on her own Facebook page.

The song, which says in part, “Ain’t no wall can divide us / No matter how high / Ain’t no storm can untie us / For all it may try / We’re all leaves on the same tree / Under one sky / Don’t let nobody tell you otherwise / We belong to each other / We are sister and brother / Born to love one another,” was Garth’s way of offering encouragement to others who are feeling down.

We Belong To Each Other

Music is the greatest healer and also the greatest equalizer. A lot of people have asked how I feel about what is going on in the world right now… and music is where I turn to answer that question — We Belong to Each Other, We are Sister and Brother… ALL OF US. We must not divide, but unite. Thank you Robin Roberts for premiering this song — I hope it’s words ring true and that we all love one another more tomorrow than we did yesterday. love, g

“Music is the greatest healer and also the greatest equalizer,” Garth explained. “A lot of people have asked how I feel about what is going on in the world right now… and music is where I turn to answer that question — We Belong to Each Other, We are Sister and Brother… ALL OF US. We must not divide, but unite.

Thank you Robin Roberts for premiering this song,” he added. “I hope it’s words ring true and that we all love one another more tomorrow than we did yesterday.”

For Garth, allowing the award-winning morning host to be the first to share the song made perfect sense to him.

“Me and Robin go way, way back,” Garth said (via The Country Daily). “She always asks about the music. Somebody’s got to hear it first, so I just asked her, ‘Would you like to be the first one to hear the new thing?’ And she was kinda caught off-guard. So, I sent it to her Sunday . . . all day Sunday, all day Monday she was texting back and forth with me . . . and I guess today she decided she was gonna share it with the world. It was totally up to her.”

Garth will undoubtedly sing “We Belong Together” at his upcoming drive-in concert, where he will perform at 300 drive-in theaters, all at once.

“This one guy came to me and said, ‘Hey, look, we can put 300 drive-in theaters together if you will create a concert solely for the drive-ins. We can have families jump in the car, get them out on Saturday night,” Garth told GMA. They’re going to run it just like a regular concert, but this is going to be all over North America, one night only.”

“We are excited because this is a reason to get out of the house, but at the same time you get to follow all the COVID rules from every individual state and you get to have fun and stay within the guidelines of social distancing,” he continued, adding, “We’re calling it ‘social distancing partying.'”
