Gary Allan Marries Longtime Girlfriend Molly Martin in Surprise Ceremony

Congratulations are in order for Gary Allan, who is married! The singer reveals that he wed his longtime girlfriend, Molly Martin, on February 5, waiting over a month to share the news. Only an officiant and photographer were in attendance.

The ceremony was held at the Sumner County mayor’s office, with Mayor John C. Isbell officiating the ceremony.

“We wanted something low-key that was representative of some of our favorite times together,” Allan tells People. “We had a private ceremony close to home, then ended the day with dinner and drinks with a few close friends.”

“It could not have been a more perfect day!” he added.

Allan proposed to Martin in December of 2021, at Cheekwood in Nashville, although the decision to get married last month was spontaneous.

“Molly and I had been trying to find the right time and right spot to get married, and we just decided the time was now,” Allan says.  “We just didn’t want to keep waiting … We may still do a bigger celebration later on, but for now we are happy to be husband and wife.”

Allan spent part of last year on a co-headlining tour with Tracy Lawrence. His last album, Ruthless, came out in 2021.

“This is a montage of everything I have done since my last album,” Allan said when Ruthless, which followed his 2013 Set You Free project, was released. “It’s what I love. I remain influenced by the ‘90s — as well as by the ‘80s. Twenty-six tracks were cut for this album. Then I went back to the studio and recorded three or four more tracks. Then I returned for two more. From each of these many sessions, I stripped out the cool stuff that I wanted on the record.”

By his own admission, Allan’s music is a bit different in the country music genre, pulling on a lot of different influences.

“Even the songs that are dark have kind of a rock ‘n’ roll poetry to them,” Allan admitted at the time. “There’s nothing really sad. I think all of them are unfiltered and clever. I think it takes you everywhere. Those are the best records that take you on a journey of a little bit of everything.”

Allan’s first album, Used Heart for Sale, was released in 1996. He’s had numerous hit singles throughout his lengthy career, including “Man to Man,” “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful,” “Watching Airplanes” and more.

“The hardest thing about being in the music business for a long time is not getting jaded,” Allan acknowledged. “The only answer to, ‘I don’t hear it,’ is, ‘Then I got more.’ That’s all you can ever do. ‘Never stop betting on me. I’ll be right back with better.’ That’s always my attitude.”
