George Strait, Keith Urban and More Part of Star-Studded Loretta Lynn Tribute

Many of country music’s biggest stars, past and present, are coming out to honor the late Loretta Lynn with a star-studded tribute. Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration Of the Life & Music of Loretta Lynn will take place on Sunday, October 30 at 7:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM CT. The commercial-free show, which will air live from the Grand Ole Opry, will be hosted by the Today Show‘s Jenna Bush Hager, with George Strait, Keith Urban, Tanya Tucker, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Wynonna and Lynn’s own sister, Crystal Gayle, among the performers.

Some of Lynn’s closest friends, including Barbara Mandrell, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow and Tim McGraw will also appear. More guests are expected to be announced shortly.

“We are truly honored to work closely alongside Loretta’s family to create a celebration of life fit for a true queen of country music, Loretta Lynn,” CMT producers shared in a statement. “She was a true original, a woman who always sang from her heart, never shied away from challenging the status quo and blazed the path forward for her fellow female artists. From her firecracker spirit and signature musicality to her unmistakable country style and unparalleled authenticity, we look forward to honoring her in the best way we know how: sharing stories and songs with her family, friends and the legions of fans she loved dearly.”

Other performers include Brandi Carlile, Emmy Russell & Lukas Nelson, The Highwomen with Brittney Spencer and Margo Price. Two additional commercial-free encores will occur on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8:00 PM ET and Sunday, Nov. 6 at 11:00 AM ET. Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration Of the Life & Music of Loretta Lynn will also be made available on Paramount+ in early 2023.

Lynn was 90 years old when she passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 4. The Country Music Hall of Fame member was laid to rest in a private service on her property a few days later.

“Today was bittersweet as I kissed my mom’s beautiful face one last time..whispering to her,” Lynn’s daughter, Peggy Marchetti, said. “I love you yesterday, today, tomorrow and always. My aunt came up to me at the service and said, ‘I see your mommy in you.’ I hugged her and said that is the best thing I could hear…because I feel her. Thank you to all that made today so special. As they laid mom to rest beside my daddy we held one another, arm in arm and sang, ‘I was born a coal miner’s daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Holler.’”
