In-N-Out Burger Is Coming To Middle Tennessee

Good news for In-N-Out Burger lovers. The popular restaurant chain, which has so far not opened any restaurants east of Texas, just announced plans to open multiple locations in Tennessee over the next few years. Based out of California, In-N-Out already has 385 locations, but plans to add a few more, with the base of their expansion located in the Berry Farms area in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville.

Per The Tennessean, Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick says the company will open a 100,000-square-foot office by 2026, which will house multiple departments focused on growing their operations in the Volunteer State. Construction is slated to begin in 2024.

“We have our eye on a few locations,” In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson, granddaughter of In-N-Out founders, says, although she declined to give specific locations.

“When we’ve opened in new states, we get overwhelmed with customers, so we generally try to open two in one day when we are first stepping into a state,” she adds. “We will start with two and probably have a third one shortly after.”

Fans of In-N-Out have Snyder-Ellingson to thank for the decision to expand beyond California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Oregan, Colorado and Texas, which is where all In-N-Out franchises currently exist.

“We came here years ago, actually east of the Smokies, but came back out to Pigeon Forge and Nashville and fell in love,” Snyder-Ellingson says. “There was one other state definitely interested and wanting us there, but we chose Nashville.”

In-N-Out already has plenty of fans in Tennessee, including the state’s own Governor Bill Lee, who tweeted out his support of In-N-Out’s expansion.

In a separate tweet, Governor Lee shared a video, welcoming In-N-Out to Tennessee.

“The great American company, the iconic brand, In-N-Out Burger, has decided to place their first corporate hub in the eastern United States, right here in Middle Tennessee,” he said. “In-N-Out Burger is a great family business that has been operating for decades in this country, with a value system and way of serving their customers that lines up just right here in Tennesse. It means a lot of opportunity, and a lot of jobs for a lot of Tennesseans. We are excited about the opportunity that In-N-Out’s gonna bring to Tennessee, plus we’re going to get to have double double fries and shakes right here in the great state of Tennessee.”

Snyder-Ellingson has no doubt that the restaurant chain’s founders would be pleased that their next location is in Tennessee, one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations.

“We are very excited to provide Tennesseans with our quality burgers, fries and shakes,” she says (via TN.gov). “In every decision I make, I always consider what my family would want. I have no doubt that my grandparents, dad and uncle would be proud of this decision to grow our associate family and serve even more amazing customers beginning in Nashville and the surrounding areas. This expansion is significant for our company.

“For many years, we’ve heard requests from our customers in Tennessee to consider opening locations near them, further east than we’ve ever been,” she continues. “Our customers are our most important asset at In-N-Out, and we very much look forward to serving them in years to come and becoming part of the wonderful communities in the Volunteer State.”

In-N-Out is projected to open in Tennessee in 2026. A specific opening date has yet to be announced.
