Jason Aldean Is Doing Something Very Different On His New Album

Jason Aldean is doing something with his forthcoming new album that he hasn’t done in a long, long time. The Georgia native reveals he has written some songs for his next record, which he hasn’t done since his eponymous project was released in 2005.

“[I] started jumping into the writer’s chair again a little bit, and got a few things on this album that I wrote. Some really cool stuff,” Aldean tells Taste of Country Nights.

Aldean has already released “Tough Crowd” and “Try That In A Small Town” from his new record, which he says will likely be out later this year.

“We got about nine songs finished already for the album, and we’re actually gonna go back in and do I think one more session,” Aldean reveals.

“We’ll probably cut five more songs, and [we’re] looking at it coming out sometime later this year. I think we’re eyeing the fall right now,” he adds.

Perhaps surprisingly, the father of four hasn’t ruled out a duet with his wife, Brittany. A talented singer, who once competed on American Idol, Aldean says he isn’t opposed to the idea, if they can find the right song.

“I think we are constantly looking for a song,” Aldean says. “It’s also a thing for Britt; for her I think it’s getting a little more confident in what she does. She did Idol, but she’s never really been out there and sang a ton in front of people, or even in the studio or anything like that, so, I think with her, she’s great, but to her, she needs a little more confidence.”

“I think it would be really cool to cut something with her and just kind of allow her to get in the studio and show what she can do,” he adds. “You just never know where that song is gonna come from, and if it happens, we’ll cut something and you guys will hear it.”

This isn’t the first time country music superstar has hinted at doing a duet with his wife of eight years. Aldean has already sung duets with artists like Kelly Clarkson, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood and more, but has been open about his willingness to someday sing with Brittany as well.

“Brit’s a great singer,” Aldean boasts on Audacy’s Stars and Strings. “It’s one of those things where, to me, it all comes down to the song. If you find the right song, I think that’s really the key. It’s definitely something I’m not opposed to at all if the right thing came along and made sense. I would actually love to get her in the studio and cut some vocals. I don’t think she’s ever done that before. That would be cool. She’d be a little reluctant until she got in there. I think she’d be great.”

Aldean will embark on his Highway Desperado Tour on July 14, with Mitchell TenpennyCorey Kent and Dee Jay Silver joining him on the road. Find music and tour dates at JasonAldean.com.
