Jason Aldean‘s Songs About Us album is out. The 20-track record includes his recent No. 1 hit, “How Far Does A Goodbye Go,” his current single, “Don’t Tell On Me,” his “Easier Gone” duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean, a duet with Luke Bryan on the title track, and more.
Aldean’s last album, Highway Desperado, came out in 2023. The father of four says that Songs About Us is about “the highs, the lows, and everything in between.”
Jason Aldean Talks About His “Easier Gone” Duet With Brittany Aldean
“Easier Gone” is the opposite of a love song, which is exactly why Aldean wanted to do the song with his wife.
“I just feel like a husband and wife doing a big love song is kind of boring. … I feel like I’m a little bit of a tortured soul in the fact that I like the heartache, heartbreak type songs way more than I love the big love songs,” Aldean admits on SiriusXM‘s The Highway. “And so, I think people thought if we ever did something, it would be one of those big sappy things. So I bring this song home, and just kind of played it for her. Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood from Lady A actually were two of the writers on it. Charles pitched it to me, and I liked it. In the beginning, I just liked the song and was thinking about cutting it myself. And the more I listened to it, I’m like, ‘Man, Brit would sound really cool on this thing,’ because I hear her sing all the time.”
Although Brittany is a talented singer who even competed on American Idol, she had never recorded a song before. Fortunately for her husband, she quickly became a pro.
“She went in, and she just, she killed it,” Aldean boasts. “She did great, and just kind of turned that song around, and gave it a whole new life, too, which was really cool. And I think it was something people had kind of been wanting to hear for a while.”

Luke Bryan Talks His ‘Songs About Us’ Duet With Luke Bryan
Aldean and Bryan came up in country music about the same time. So it only made sense to have Bryan join him on the title track of his 12th studio album.
“It kind of sums up what the album’s about, and what we’ve been doing for the last 20 years, which was a big reason I wanted to get Luke on that particular song,” Aldean says. “Because I feel like the two of us over the last 20 years, his music’s kind of been the same. And so I just thought it was a really cool moment on the record and a cool song to bring him in on.”
“He’s one of the most iconic voices of the last 20 years,” he continues. “And he and I obviously have always been really close and friends, and anytime we get a chance to work together, whether it be in the music business or any other business venture, it’s fun for us. So it was kind of a no-brainer.”
