John Rich Pledges Tithes From New Single to Samaritan’s Purse Charity

John Rich is pledging the tithes, typically ten percent, from his upcoming single, “Earth to God,” to Samaritan’s Purse, a a disaster relief agency that offers aid to those around the world who are victims of “war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine,” according to their website.

“I’m proud to say the tithe from this song, my personal tithe, is going to go to Samaritan’s Purse, which is an incredible organization that does world outreach for disasters and for people in crisis, no matter their ideology, political leanings, race, religion, color or creed, nothing,” John shared in a video posted on YouTube. “A human being is a human being, and Samaritan’s Purse is there for them, just like God is there for each and every one of us.”

The Big & Rich singer might have written the song, but he is refusing to take much of the credit, saying instead he was just a messenger from God.

“It’s a song that I wrote, but honestly, I feel like I can’t even take credit for writing it, because the day that thought came into my mind, I believe it was placed there on purpose, and I got to be the vessel, I got to be the guy that held the pencil to the page and made that message a reality. But it dawned on me that not since Noah’s flood, probably, has the whole earth had the same threat at the same time, have been upside down all at the same time.

“The problems we face as a country, and the problems we face as a planet, as humanity, are so huge. They’re bigger than anything mankind can fix,” he added. “Man cannot fix mankind’s problems, especially at this level, but there is One who can.”

John also spoke out about the song in a video he shared on social media.

“This Friday my song ‘Earth to God’ comes out nationally at country radio,” John began. “The video comes out everywhere; you’ll be able to find the song anywhere you find your music. And I gotta say, this might be the most special song I’ve ever had the honor to write. It was a direct message, I feel, to me. I just got to be the lucky guy to have the pencil and the page, and take what He was saying and put it out there for the world to hear. It’s a simple message.

“I hope that people find hope when they listen to it,” he continued. “I hope they’re encouraged and are inspired, and remember that even though things are out of our control, they are never out of his control. I believe that. That’s what this song says.”
