Kane Brown Reveals He Was a 'Bad Friend' to Chris Young

Kane Brown is owning up to a mistake he made with his good friend, Chris Young. Young recently opened his Famous Friends bar in Nashville, named after his 2021 multi-platinum hit single with Brown.

Sadly, when Famous Friends opened, Brown was not in attendance. It’s something he still feels bad about missing.

I missed it,” Brown admits on Country Countdown USA. “I was supposed to go to the opening. I was a bad friend and didn’t make it. I told him I’d go the next day, but it was too late.”

Brown knows a thing or two about Nashville bars. Earlier this year, he also opened his own Kane Brown’s On Broadway. It’s a place that Brown is rightfully proud to have created.

“We had a taste test on the food,” Brown says. “We went through the interior of the place. We had it for two years, and looked at everyone else’s bars. We wanted to see what’s working and what’s not working. It turned out great.”

What Chris Young Says About His Famous Friends Bar

Unlike Brown and some other bars by country music superstars, Young’s Famous Friends has a very different feel and focus.

“They call it a shotgun-style bar because it’s like a rectangle,” Young explains on The Big 98. “It’s longer than it is wide. It’s one floor, but it’s meant to be a true sports bar, and just sort of a vibey place to hang out. I’ve talked about doing it for years. This, for me, was just a passion project. It was just something else — not that I’m not already as busy as I could possibly be — I decided I wanted to do one more thing. But it’s been on my mind for years now. I’ve been looking for the right place, and I just happened to find it.

“A lot of people go to that area and just hang out,” he continues. “I wanted to be able to offer something a little bit different, and also have a place where maybe we’ll throw some No. 1 parties there. Maybe we’ll have some private events there. Maybe we’ll do a little bit of everything, but also have a place specifically for me, just my love of music and my love of sports. That’s going to be the walls of this place.”

People like Brown, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and more all have bars in the heart of downtown, which have several floors and have much more of a party vibe. For Young, he had his mind on something much more intimate.

“I just found the right space,” the Tennessee native says. “I didn’t want something that was crazy big, multi-story. I wanted to do a sports bar. I wanted to do something that doesn’t necessarily lean towards the part of my life that is the majority of it, which is music. I wanted to do something a little bit different. So, I finally found a spot. It’s a 94-person [capacity]. And, I was like, ‘Yeah, this is it. This is what I’ve been looking for.’”
