Riley Green was just confirmed as a coach for Season 30 of The Voice. Green will coach alongside Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, with Clarkson already reaching out to Green to welcome him to The Voice.
“Riley Green, this is Kelly Clarkson,” Clarkson says in a voicemail that Green shares on social media. “That is officially the last time we’re gonna use each other’s full names, ’cause we’re not tools. But we have never officially met, so I am super-stoked to coach alongside you. Welcome to The Voice. Stoked whenever I heard you were going to be a coach, because I actually am a super fan of your music. You’re so good. You probably know, because I’ve covered your songs. Anyway, big fan.”
Clarkson goes on to tell Green that she sent him a gift, reminding him that she wasn’t going to go easy on him just because she likes his music.
“But needless to say, fan and all, it’s a competition, so as a future friend, I sent you something,” Clarkson says. “A little gift, a little something while you’re out on the road, doing shows and getting your head in the game for The Voice coming up. Because, I think you’re going to need to practice, ’cause Team Kelly’s gonna whoop that a–.”
The present was revealed to be Green’s own red swivel chair, complete with his name and duck calls in the front.

What We Know About Season 30 of ‘The Voice’ With Riley Green
The Voice teased a country artist being part of the reality TV talent show before revealing it was Green who would be one of the coaches. A premiere date for the show has yet to be announced, although NBC confirms it will happen in September.
It is also unclear if a fourth coach will be added. The recent Season 29, also known as Battle of Champions, only had three coaches, namely Clarks, Levine, and John Legend.
Riley Green’s Other TV Role, on ‘Marshals’
Being on The Voice isn’t Green’s only role on a TV show. Green is guest-starring as Garrett on the TV show Marshals. Green plays a former Navy SEAL who used to work with Special Deputy U.S. Marshal Kayce Dutton, a role played by Luke Grimes.
“Luke has become a great friend of mine, and he was like, ‘You should really try acting,’” Green recalls to Extra. “What a great way to get introduced to that world.”
Although Green does do some singing in Marshals, the role is still quite the stretch for Green.
“They threw it on me so fast I didn’t have to get nervous about it,” Green tells USA Today. “I wanted this to be a real acting gig, and I was lucky. This character has a lot of range, and there’s a lot of emotion. He’s a really kind of damaged guy.”
Marshals is Green’s first real acting role, but he hints that it may not be his last.
“I would really enjoy being able to go, and get on set, and kind of get into that world, and stay there,” Green says. “And just be an actor for a little while. I think that would be something I’d really enjoy.”
