Kenny Chesney Drops ‘Thinkin’ Bout’ From New ‘BORN’ Album [LISTEN]

A new song is here from Kenny Chesney! The country music superstar just dropped “Thinkin’ Bout,” a the latest release from his forthcoming BORN album, out on March 22.

“The hardest part of letting go is actually letting go,” Chesney says of the inspiration behind the new song. “All that chemistry, all that intimacy, all that doesn’t need to be said is such a big thing… Whatever’s wrong, obviously it’s not gonna change. But it gets late, you get thinking – and next thing you know, you’re tumbling back into something that just can’t be.

“I love this song, because it gets into that space where you’re thinking about knowing you shouldn’t do this, shouldn’t think about that person, and that’s when maybe the letting go can really start to happen no matter how good it feels or how much you make each other laugh,” he adds.

All of the songs on BORN are personal to him, a record released for his fans, and his first since Here and Now came out in 2020.

“Normally, we wait until it’s all figured out, the T’s are crossed, the I’s are dotted,” Chesney said when announcing BORN. “But everything about this record’s been different – from how much time we’ve spent, the different ways we recorded and wrote and found songs – so why not let the fans know as we’re finishing up? We make this music for them, so, here you go.”

The Knoxville native currently has a Top 20 hit with “Take Her Home,” his first release from his next set of tunes.

“When I heard ‘Take Her Home,’ I just laughed,” Chesney said when releasing the song. “It was everything life is made of in less than four minutes. It’s true, honest and all the stuff that’s easy to forget. All those details and little moments? The deep-cut Cheap Trick, the black-and-pink suitcase in the back of the truck, a seven-pound, five-ounce baby?

“That’s what makes these kinds of life changes what they are,” he continued. “And it’s funny: no matter what stage you’re in, you really are always scared. That’s how you know it’s gonna be worth it.”

Chesney also released “Just To Say We Did” from BORN. Pre-sale for the project is available now. Chesney will embark on his Sun Goes Down Tour on April 20 in Tampa, Florida, joined on the road by Zac Brown BandMegan Moroney and Uncle Kracker. See a list of tour dates below.
