Kenny Chesney‘s new Silver Sands Marina album will be out on September 25. The 11-track record includes his current Top 5 single, “Carry On,” plus a tribute to the late Brett James, his recently-released song, “Goldfish,” and more.

“Songs that make you laugh, that make you realize what a moment might actually mean, those things are so important – and we forget all about them,” Chesney says. “Musically, lyrically, even the idea of opening with ‘Burn My Boat’ and closing with Brett James and Tony Lane’s ‘Shot Glass’ takes you places I’ve never been… and when all the songs line up next to each other, you get a real taste of how life rolls out, and the things you don’t see until it’s too late.”

Silver Sands Marina comes two years after Chesney’s last album, BORN. Some artists may carefully calculate each project, but Chesney refreshingly follows his heart.

“There wasn’t a master plan,” Chesney concedes. “I wish I could say there was a master plan, but the truth is, the songs that felt like they belonged together knew something I didn’t. After the first couple listens to what became the final sequence, I realized, ‘This is an album.’”

“Carry On” is already in the Top 5, and likely to become Chesney’s next No.1 single. The song, written by Jessi Alexander, Matt Jenkins, and Chase McGill, is the first single from Silver Sands Marina.

“I think Silver Sands Marina hits a lot of life points and different emotions,” Chesney says of the record. “But through all of the songs, that spirit of find your spark, recognize the goodness wherever you are is what shines through. To me, ‘Carry On’ was the perfect first single, because that bartender makes it all pretty simple, which is what we all need.

“And if there’s one thing we could use right now, it’s a lot more joy, a lot more stripping things back to what matters,” he continues. “It doesn’t always take a lot, being grateful right where you are – and knowing sometimes just being in the moment is the gift that will carry you through.”

“Carry On” became Chesney’s 100th charting single. It also happens to be one of his favorites.

“It is such a well-written song,” Chesney boasts. “You can smell the fall in the air, the lake, and that solitude. Everyone’s so busy rushing, you miss most of the small details – and everything that happens around them. But in ‘Silver Sands Marina,’ not only do the details hold the song in place, they remind you that the magic happens in the simplest, realest places; you just have to be open to letting it happen.”
