Lauren Alaina is praising country radio, as she continues to celebrate her “All My Exes” duet with Chase Matthew reaching No. 1.
“All My Exes” is Alaina’s second single on her own, coming nine years after she reached the top of the charts with “Road Less Traveled.”
In a video shared on social media, Alaina expresses her gratitude to all of the people at radio who continued to champion “All My Exes” until it got to the top of the charts.
“Thank you for believing in me for so long,” Alaina says. “Thank you for playing ‘All My Exes’ and getting me back to the top of the charts. To be 15 years into this career and be back at the top is indescribable for me. The gratitude I feel, I don’t even know how I can cover it. I love country radio so much. As a little girl, I used to call US 101 on the phone and sing for the DJs, so they would play me on the radio. As far back as I can remember, all I’ve ever wanted and really dreamed of is to be on the radio. As the mother and the wife that I am now, and in this stage of my life, my dreams really have come true.
“And to be back at the top with a song that I released and I wrote is indescribable, truly, and I am just so grateful,” she adds. “Thank you to all my friends at country radio. I have always loved you, and you’ve always loved me back. You’ve really shown up for me this week. And I know that you always have, but I’m especially feeling it this week, so thank you so much. I love you.”

The Story Behind “All My Exes” by Lauren Alaina and Chase Matthew
Fans can thank Alaina’s husband, Cam Arnold, for her releasing the song at all, let alone as a duet with Matthew.
“So I had written this song a couple years before, and it was Cameron’s favorite,” Alaina tells Everything Nash. “And I’m like, ‘I write you songs all the time. Your favorite song of mine is the one about my exes. Okay, Cameron.’ But he was like, ‘You have to do this song. I’m just telling you, this will be a huge song for you. You’ve never done anything like it. I’m just telling you, this is a hit song.’ Well, we go on tour with Jason Aldean. I have no plans to cut this song, put this song on the record. We’re not going this direction at all.
“And Cameron played it for Chase, and was like, ‘You have to do this song with Lauren. I’m telling you, it’s a hit,’” she continues. “And then Chase was like, ‘What? Yeah, I’m in. Let’s do this.’ So then Cameron came to me and said, ‘You should play that song for Chase. I bet he would love it.’ He had already committed to doing it to Cameron. They let me think it was my idea, which was a smart thing.”
