Leaving Austin is giving Everything Nash readers an exclusive first listen at the acoustic version of “Nothing But You.” The original version was released last year, and became a huge success for the band, which is why they decided to release the stripped-down version as well. The song is one of several the trio, made up of Austin Machado, Michael Stevens and Davis Forney, is releasing as part of their ongoing Take 2 project.
“Like a lot of you, there’s been a lot of changes in our lives recently,” Austin said. “We moved across the country, found out Michael and his wife are having a baby, started raising six chickens, and learned that toilet paper is more precious than gold. You guys have been so supportive every step of the way. We wanted to say thank you and decided it’d be fun to record some ‘Take 2’ versions of some of the songs the fans have shown so much love on! Some will be stripped down to piano or acoustic and some completely re-imagined.”
“Everyone’s love and support on our song ‘Nothing But You’ really helped push the needle for us over this last year,” he continued. “This ‘Take 2’ version is stripped-back and completely re-imagined. We hope the fans dig it!!”
Leaving Austin recently moved from their native California to Nashville to take their music to the next level, even though deciding to relocate wasn’t easy for them.
“After flying back and forth from California, our home state, to Nashville for two-and-a-half years, we decided it was time to make the move,” Austin told Everything Nash. “It’s just as much terrifying as it is exciting! Leaving our family and friends is a needed sacrifice to take this next step in our career. Being in Nashville opens up more than just doors, it opens up our relationships with our team and our co-writers.
“Now instead of just work, work, work, we get to eat together, drink together, bonfire together, and develop an even more intimate relationship with them,” he continued. “We feel like our music and lyrics are going to go to an even greater place and we can’t wait for our fans to get to know us even more through our music.”
