Loretta Lynn Admits Her Heart is Breaking Due to Recent Events in America

Loretta Lynn has endured plenty throughout her life, but the current state of America is breaking her heart. The 88-year-old opened up about the recent events, including the tragic death of George Floyd, and the subsequent riots that occurred in cities all over rthe country, in a heartfelt post on social media.

“I’ve had to turn my head from the TV a lot in the last few days,” Loretta admitted. “It breaks my heart to see anyone mistreated in any way. I was taught that you treat others the way you want to be treated. That simple truth has served me well my whole life. As I’ve watched the pain and the hurt so many are in right now, I’ve just prayed for our country. We need God now, more than ever. It reminded me of the song I recorded, ‘God Bless America Again.’ It feels like it still fits.”

Loretta also posted the lyrics to the song, which say in part, “God bless America again / You see all the troubles that she’s in / Wash her pretty face dry her eyes and then /  God bless America again.” The song was from her 1976 United Talent album with Conway Twitty.

Loretta might be an octogenarian, but she is still determined to be as active as ever. The Country Music Hall of Fame member suffered a stroke in 2017, followed by a broken hip in 2018, but managed to recover from both.

“I think it was harder to come back from my hip than anything,” Loretta told Sounds Like Nashville. “With the stroke, I started working on it by myself even at night. I’d work my arms and legs while I was laying in the bed. I didn’t rest. I just kept working. If you’ve got an arm that doesn’t work, work on it day and night. If you’ve got a leg that doesn’t work, work on it day and night. That’s the way I had to do it.”

Loretta just released a book, Me & Patsy Kickin’ Up Dust: My Friendship with Patsy Cline, was just released. The book, which chronicles her friendship with Patsy until she was killed in a plane crash, is available for purchase at Amazon.
