Lee Brice Drops Timely ‘Hey World’ in Response to COVID-19 Crisis

Lee Brice has always worn his heart on his sleeve in his music, and his latest song is no exception. The South Carolina native just dropped a new song and video, “Hey World,” in response to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.

“We wrote this song from an introspective, truthful place and probably what most people are actually feeling right now,” Brice says of the tender song. “With everything that is happening in the world currently and how fast paced we are as a society in general, sometimes you just want everything to stop – just to appreciate what we do have. People are suffering and it can’t be ignored.”

Lee’s current single is “One of Them Girls.” The song, from an upcoming new album, was written by Lee, along with Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and Ben Johnson, and became a last-minute addition to his next set of tunes.

“When I started making the new album, me and my producers had three songs we all loved,” Lee told CMT. “And we had it all mapped out to record them. But the night before we went into the studio, I wrote another song. I sent it to my co-producers at 4:00 in the morning when I’d finished it. They were like, ‘Damn. We have to cut this song.’ So by 10:00, six hours after I’d finished writing it, we had it recorded. It has the potential to be my next No. 1.”

The video for “One of Them Girls” honors first responders. Watch it here. His album is expected to be released later this year.
