Loretta Lynn on Pretend Wedding to Kid Rock: ‘It Was Just a Joke’

Loretta Lynn is speaking out about her pretend marriage to Kid Rock over the weekend, saying it wasn’t real, but it was all in good fun. The 88-year-old, who had a surprise, and fake, wedding to the rapper over the weekend, shared a few more photos of the pair together, while putting to rest any remaining rumors about their fun.

“Well, it didn’t last long, y’all but it sure was fun!” Loretta wrote on social media, along with a few photos of the celebrities together. “I guess I better get on here and let y’all know that it was just a joke— Kid Rock and I didn’t get married over the weekend, but we had a blast.”

Loretta joked that she married Kid Rock while he was at a vow renewal ceremony at her Hurricane Mills ranch.

“What a weekend!,” Loretta said at the time. “My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend. It was beautiful and everything it should be. Marriage isn’t always easy–heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness.

“Things got crazy then–my boy Kid Rock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married,” she continued. “Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”

Loretta also used social media this week to pay tribute to her good friend, and frequent duet partner, Conway Twitty, on what would have been his 87th birthday.

“I wish everyday that Conway was still here,” Loretta wrote. “Losing him nearly killed me and Doo both. He was like a brother to me. Every time on stage with him was an honor. I always felt like he deserved more accolades than Country Music gave him. This little Arkansas boy was an entertainer through and through and his voice was unrivaled. I miss you, Conway. If you was here I’d bake you a cake and laugh at your corny jokes! Happy birthday. I’m so glad you were born.”
