Lower Broadway Businesses Reopen in Downtown Nashville During Coronavirus Pandemic

Several downtown bars on Lower Broadway are beginning to reopen, as part of Phase One of the city’s plans to allow businesses to operate, although there are several restrictions in place. During Phase One, no live music or bar seating is allowed, and the restaurant can only be filled at 50 percent capacity. In addition, workers must wear masks and have their temperature taken.

Although some venues are choosing to not reopen, due to the numerous constraints, John Rich’s Redneck Riviera is already back in business.

“It’s not like what it would be if the place was completely open, but it’s better than nothing,” John said at a press conference on Monday, May 11 (via Fox 17 News).

The Big & Rich singer is optimistic that people will abide by the rules and regulations, even though very little will be the same as before.

“I’m anticipating that people are just going to be so happy that there’s a place you can walk into and have a barbecue sandwich and a cocktail that they’re going to do what we ask them to do,” John said.

John also praised the fans and customers who have patiently waited at home for places like Redneck Riviera to reopen.

“Thanks for sticking with us,” John said on social media. “We’re sticking with you too. We’re looking forward to the second half of this year –– getting back to normal, getting back to business, and having a great, great time. God bless America. You guys stay tough. Time to open up for business.”

As part of Phase One, both Metro Health and the CDC recommend wearing face masks, which John says is possible, even at a restaurant.

“I don’t think you can eat a barbecue sandwich through a mask,” Rich said. “If you’re not eating or drinking, just pull it up and hang out and talk to your friends. If you want to take a sip, just pull it down.”

Other downtown businesses already open reportedly include Margaritaville, Honky Tonk Central, Rippy’s Bar & Grill and Tin Roof. Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row plans to open this week. Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean have yet to announce when their respective bars will be back in business. The Stage, Acme Feed & Seed and Layla’s are among those who have decided to remain closed at this time.

Check restaurant websites before visiting to confirm opening.
