Luke Combs On His Lawsuit Against a Fan: ‘It Makes Me Sick’

Luke Combs was unaware that a woman was being sued by him, and now he is doing everything he can to make it right again. In a video shared on social media, Combs reveals that he did not know that Nicol Harness, a Florida resident, had been sued for copyright infringement, for selling items with Combs’ image, including tumblers.

Harness, who has congestive heart failure, didn’t realize there was a problem until she could not access her money, and then found she had been sued by Combs for $250,000 for copyright infringement.

Combs admits he was heartbroken when he discovered the lawsuit.

“I woke up at 5:00 AM to use the restroom, and the first thing I saw was this,” he said, pointing to an article online about the lawsuit. “A woman that’s being sued by me for $250,000. I’ve spent the last two hours trying to make this right, trying to figure out what’s going on, because I was completely and utterly unaware of this.”

Combs goes on to say that his manager reached out to the news station to try to obtain any information he could. He also added that the company that goes after other companies for copyright infringement, is intended to target international, multi-million dollar corporations using his image illegally, not individuals.

“Apparently, this woman Nicol has somehow gotten wrapped into that, and that makes me absolutely sick to my stomach,” Combs shared. “I was able to get Nicol’s phone number. I spoke to her this morning. She told me that she was absolutely shocked by this. I’m so apologetic. Talking to her, it makes me sick honestly that this would happen, especially at the holidays. I can’t imagine being in her shoes.”

Nicol told the “Fast Car” singer that there was $5500 locked up in her Amazon account, which Combs says he is doubling, sending her $11,000

“She was never supposed to be involved in anything like this,” said Combs. “No fan should have to be involved in anything like this. She got in trouble apparently for making tumblers, so I’m gonna make my own tumbler today. It’s going to go up today. All of that money is going to go to Nicol and her family to try and help with her medical bills. Hopefully, that can help her out.

“And again, this is unbelievable,” he added. “I was completely shocked when I saw this. It makes me sick. This is not something that I would ever do. This is not the kind of person I am. I’m not greedy in any way, shape or form. Money is the last thing on my mind, I promise you guys that.”

Combs is also flying Nicol and her family out to a show so he can give her a hug and apologize in person.
