Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen Receive Multiple People’s Choice Awards Nominations

The People’s Choice Awards nominations are out! Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen lead the list of country music nominees, with five each, including both receiving nods in four all-genre categories.

Both Combs and Wallen are nominated for The Male Artist of the Year, The Song of the Year, The Album of the Year, and The Concert Tour of the Year. Combs’ The Album of the Year nod is for Gettin’ Old, and Wallen’s is for One Thing At A Time. The Song of the Year nomination is for “Fast Car,” for Combs, while Wallen’s is for “Last Night.”

Combs’ World Tour and Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour are also nominated, and both are nominated for The Artist of the Year.

In addition, Combs and Wallen are nominated for The Male Country Artist of the Year, a category they share with Chris Stapleton, Cody Johnson, HARDY, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown and Zach Bryan. Jelly Roll is also nominated for New Artist of the Year.

Lainey Wilson received two nominations, both for the all-genre The Female Artist of the Year, and The Female Country Artist of the Year. Wilson shares the latter category with Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Gabby Barrett, Kelsea Ballerini, Megan Moroney and Shania Twain.

Wilson spoke out about being nominated in two categories, especially one outside of the country music genre.

“Y’all…it’s truly such an honor to be nominated for BOTH Female Artist of the Year & Female Country Artist of the Year,” Wilson gushed. “This is the only fan voted awards show which means y’all have the power! Voting is open now through Jan. 19!”

Wilson is also nominated for her first two Grammy Awards nominations, with that ceremony taking place on Sunday, February 4.

Bell Bottom Countris nominated for Country Album Of The Year at this year’s #GRAMMYs and my brother Jelly Roll and I snagged a nomination for Country Duo/Group Performance with “Save Me,” Wilson said on social media when the nominations were announced. “It is an honor, to say the least. Thank you Recording Academy / GRAMMYs and big congrats to all the nominees.”

It’s fitting that Combs and Wallen are both nominated in the same categories, since Combs has said he thinks it’s good for them, and country music, to continue to compete with each other.

“People always want there to be a rivalry, right?” Combs says in a conversation with Grady Smith. “So there was Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean, there was that. There was Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney … People always need the yin and yang thing. I think it’s good for music.”
