More music might be coming from Michael Ray, and soon. The country music hitmaker teased a clip of a new song on social media, asking fans if he should release it next.
“New music… should I drop this?” Ray captioned the short video.
The new song, which says, “Love me like you ain’t got nothing else / Left to your name but tonight / Love me like you ain’t got nothing else / But being mine on your mind,” comes as Ray is enjoying a Top 40 hit at radio. The Florida native’s current single, “Spirits and Demons,” a duet with Meghan Patrick, is from his latest Dive Bars & Broken Hearts EP, released last June.

“The song’s about going through that part of life where you’re trying to figure things out,” Ray said of “Spirits and Demons.” “You went through a break-up, and you go to the bottle. You wanna numb it. You wanna forget about what’s going on and just not feel anything, but when you lean into that bottle, it’s going to bring out the demons, it’s going to bring out some of those memories and you just end up reliving it.”
Ray hinted when Dive Bars & Broken Hearts was released that he already had new music in the works.
“We’re talking about going in soon to start the next side,” Ray told Everything Nash last summer. “I’m writing, and listening to a lot of songs, getting set up to get in the studio as soon as we can, and not let much time slip by. We want to try to keep things close together. I’m excited.”
Ray is rightfully proud of Dive Bars & Broken Hearts, which is why he is eager and excited to share more music with the rest of the world.
“These first six just got me so excited,” Ray explained. “Not that I was ever out of love with music, but it really put a new love in me for what I’ve always loved, and a new passion and excitement for writing and creating. So I’m excited to get back in, and get back in the studio soon.”
Ray recently released another song, “We Should Get A Drink Sometime,” also from his next project.
“I typically end up cutting more songs than I need when I’m in the studio, and sadly that means there are a few that never get to see the light of day,” Ray said when he released the new song. “But this song has always been special to me, and it felt like the right time to put it out there. This one is for those of you traveling home for the holidays and reconnecting with those people in your life that you’ve lost touch with, whether you reach out or run into someone you didn’t expect to see.”
